You just knew that Morning Joe would seek to exploit for maximum political gain the Christianity Today editorial by outgoing editor-in-chief Mark Galli that was highly critical of President Trump. And sure enough . . .
First up today was Never-Trumper Rick Tyler, who praised the editorial for having "overturned the tables of the money changers in the temple courts." In a particularly audacious attack, Tyler claimed that Trump-supporting evangelicals are telling others that "Christianity is sort of a farce. That it's not real. That it's not true."
Next up was Al Sharpton, who approvingly cast the editorial, because it's "exposing all of them that they would take this shameless con man over the principles that theyre preaching. In the holy season as we celebrate Jesus, they would sell Jesus out if they thought they could get something from it," like judicial appointments.
It's always amazing to marvel at the chutzpah of Reverend Sharpton calling out someone else for exploiting their religious bona fides or race-baiting, or being a shameless con man. Holy Tawana Brawley!
Here's the transcript.
MSNBC Morning Joe 12/23/19 6:30 am ET
RICK TYLER: Look, what Christianity Today has, they have overturned the tables of the money changers in the temple courts, and theyve disrupted their business models. And I know that hurts to hear for a lot of people. But a lot of this is about money, because they've raised money off of off the judge issue, off the life issue.
. . .
But when theyre saying that this is the person that we uphold, that we want to keep as president because were getting the things that we want, it destroys your witness. Because what it does is, it tells people who are non-Christians, and non-Christians can be equally as moral as Christians, that Christianity is sort of a farce, that its not real, that its not true.
. . .
AL SHARPTON: The reason [Trump-supporting evangelicals are] so offended is its exposing all of them that they would take this shameless con man over the principles that theyre preaching. In the holy season as we celebrate Jesus, they would sell Jesus out if they felt they could get something from it, is the inference hes saying from his editorial. And thats sad on many levels.
Ugly black pot calling a pot black .A-hole 1st Class
No way evangelicals are going to sell Jesus out for Al Sharpton.
The lefts new plan, drive a wedge between Trump and Christian supporters.
No sale.
Al Sharpton. LOL
Precisely. This a-hole has some kind of NUTSO on, to call someone ELSE a “con man”.
Race baiting greasy straight hair Tawana Brawley fakir, and... conservative blacks would use a cultural word in their community for JUST what he is. Besides a-hole, that is. Far worse.
Identifying as a black woman for this next comment - I think black people, when it comes to Al Sharpton, should feel the shame the press tries to make white people feel for aholes like David Duke. Al is is one of satan's dumber useful idiots.
But given what we now know about just how in the tank and fake the news is - most likely a good portion of the racial animus that does exist is ginned up by these assholes in the media.
Most likely black Americans are embarrassed of this asshat as I am - his lack of shame is just the shadow of his lack of humanity
Tap tap tap Jesus shoulder. Move over Jesus, I will judge for awhile.
They both can KMA. Sharpton is as much Rev. as a bag of dog pooh. And that’s being nice.
The proper comparison would be to King David. He was a deeply flawed and sinful man whom God chose to work his will. King David makes President Trump look like a saint. God chose King David to be Jesus's great great great … great grandfather.
Or Saul of Tarsus. God uses sinful people for his own purposes. And these vessels become changed by working God's will.
President Trump is a good man who has stumbled on occasion. But don't we all?
Con man Notso-Sharpton speaks.
LOL. When leftists get together they will often drone on and on to the hymn "Amazing Grace". These atheists have no idea of what the words mean or the deep theology embedded in that hymn. To leftists it's just another version of "Kumbaya". It might as well be monkeys singing it.
Amazing Grace was written by a repentant sinner named John Newton. Read the fascinating story of John Newton's conversion. [Wikipedia]
It’s amazing how The Bible and Christianity and Christ are suddenly important and meaningful when leftists can twist and distort it to fit their insane thinking
When Rudy was Mayor, he shut al down for eight glorious years.
too bad he came back.
Also amazing considering they DENIED God as part of their platform, THREE TIMES, several years ago.
Yeah....they’re real experts on the Bible, Christianity and all things related to the Lord.
NOT.
Sez the biggest con man of all. Hey, Sharpie, when ya gonna pay the MILLIONS you owe in back taxes? Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones, you racist piece of gutter trash!
Sharpton would sell out his own mother for a taco.
IIRC, NAN had been audited at least twice. Only to to have the rev’s offices burned down before the tax records could be retrieved.
But then again, food service establishments self-combusting
is not a rare occurrence in the land of opportunity in upstate NY.
Agreed.
And they’ll pay a HORRIBLE price for denying God.
I know, I tried it once.
I wouldn’t recommend it!
It’s not so much that HE hurts you, but denying God MUST ALWAYS lead to pain and anguish.
And we are seeing a Glorious time in the US, slowly but surely changing back.
And the Godless dems and left will suffer.
I don’t enjoy seeing people suffer, but they BEGGED for it!
Merry Christmas!
AL Sharpton, a mail order reverend.
Mark Steyn once referred to him as that noted theologian, The Reverend Al Sharpton.
If Pastors are for cutting babies up and selling the body parts and conmen are working to save the lives of the children then I will take the conmen.
