Oh, my dear bluejean, you have many prayers from this quarter. You have much on your plate.
Taking care of an elder is a labor of love, but as all labor, it leaves one weary.
May God lighten your burdens in ways only He can think of.
My condolences on the loss of your brother.
May the Lord renew your strength. May you rise up with wings of an Eagle. May you walk and not be weary, may you run and never faint.
May that sputtering light burst into flame, because of His Grace and His Glory.
Oh my goodness. I am so sorry. I share your feelings including frequent wishes to have this life just be over. Nothing but crap most of the time, troubles.... I have to gut it out and remember I will feel better in a day or 2, and I do.
I grew up stuck on a farm with an abusive father, made us kids work on the farm and business , every minute we were not at school, starting at age 10 after we moved there and built everything ( kids building!). He has a horrible volatile temper and we didn’t dare say no or he’d have killed us.
I have no relationship with him. I show up for holidays or stop in to see my mother who is still trapped but insists she is fine ( Stockholm Syndrome). He ruined me and my siblings, stole our childhood. I learned in my 40s that a government official with child protective services had visited the farm when I was a kid. Some kind soul ( a retail customer of ours I assume) had called on our behalf. My crazy father is 85 and still working, thus my 80 year old mother still works. I hate what he did to all of us.
My sister and I suffer from depression and suicidal thoughts. I know the horrible dread of what bad thing is next... my faith in God is all that keeps me from ending it all.
There is a Bible verse my pastor uses a lot.
“Better is the ending of a thing, than the beginning thereof.”
God has a plan for you and me, a good plan.
Let’s Walk Towards The Cross everyday, until God takes us home.

I’ll pray that Father Christmas visits your cousin
this year and melts her icy indifference.
You can always direct your nephew to
be on watch for a change of heart and to set aside
something special for her or your great nephew in that case.
Meanwhile, like our father in heaven watches
for our return to Him be ready to kill the fatted calf
and throw a party.

I’ve had 2 relatives die suddenly in their early 60s and one whose cancer killed him in 18 months when he was 54 . To be honest, I’d rather go in a second like my uncle did, who only took in a loud breath and died putting his work boots on one ordinary morning. My other uncle went from a vibrant 53 year old to an old man in a year, horrifying. My aunt died in her sleep, the best way to go in my opinion.
I will join all the others in special prayer for you.
To be suddenly unemployed is always a great blow to a man, esp. a father, husband, and provider. You are in the first stages of shock and disbelief. It will get better.
Determine to do one thing each day to get back on track. Update your resume, call people in your network,
take a walk, stay healthy, etc.
It is not the end of the world.

May God help you to build on your good character every day, may the Spirit enlighten you in many ways, may the love of Christ Jesus descend upon you and sustain you during this difficult time.

My father (RIP) actually got boondoggled a couple years ago. $7000.
These bastards called claiming to be lawyers who were trying to get my nephew out of jail. I don’t know why I allowed this to go on, myself partly believing it (all I had to do was call my bro in CA - FAR from VA they claimed his son was in jail in which we had no clue he had moved so close to us; but I heeded the “don’t talk to ANYONE” garbage). My mother was livid and dying to give them piece of her mind, but my dad (post-heart) had fibs over her resistance to the point of ER level and I sided with him.
She was right all along, it was a total scam.
I’ve wondered about that fast or slow way of leaving this world. The hard part on the slow -—is on the sick one. I think of that terrible illness — ALS, where the mind is alert to the end after long lingering. I lost my dear DH quite unexpectedly, and altho a shock to me, at least it was easier on him. But — it is not for us to decide. “Ours is not to reason why ——”.
Your Bill is now in my nightly prayers as well as you. A dear brother lost his wife from Alzheimer’s and it is such a difficult illness to accept — not that any is. But so hard on the loved ones.

I lost my dear Aunt Peggy in September. She was really my big sister/mother.
In the midst of mourning there’s still the joy of celebrating Christ’s loving us enough to come into our world, bringing with Him our salvation.
I’m keeping all who are posting on this thread in my prayers during this difficult but glorious holiday season.

So sorry you lost your dear aunt this year. I have 2 aunts left and no uncles anymore. Three of my aunts and uncles died before age 64 and all within a few short years of each other. I still miss my grandmother who only lived to be 63 and had a fatal heart attack, I was 10. My little sister was about 2 and of course has no memory of her.
Will be a joyous reunion in Heaven.
This niece has always been like a daughter to me. I don’t understand it. I think maybe she doesn’t understand the concept of me being founder/CEO and thought she was autonomous. She got butthurt awhile back because she isn’t on the bank account and some stupid teller told her as a partial owner she should be. I said you’re marketing. Why do you need access to the bank account? After that it was kind of forced until for no reason she just stopped following through on stuff she said she’d do and finally stopped responding to me. I told my daughter the niece must be the stupidest person on the planet. Someone 100% funds a business opportunity and gives her a third and then she just throws it away. This is a business once built can easily make millions.
