In many ways, Mary is the equivalent of a surrogate mother. The Bible says that the Holy Spirit “overshadowed” Mary for her to conceive. This statement has many possibilities, including giving birth to a child with none of her genes.

So, the classic Greek word Theotokos is more accurate, as it mean God-bearer. It doesn’t necessarily mean that God originated from Mary, just as a surrogate mother is not the origin of the baby she births.

entirely possible although the Bible states Jesus is. direct descendant of David maybe implying there is some genetic component. Again though I’m not sure this is an area we are even supposed to speculate about. If God wanted us to know He would tell us. There will time unrestricted in eternity to learn the glories of our God! And it will take all eternity and more to begin to learn about Him and know Him more. I can’t wait to get started!!!

So succinctly stated and so very accurate! Thank you for posting that. BTW, I’m gonna appropriate the wording as a gem.

I tried that surrogate angle a week or so ago in another thread.

No one wanted to handle it then.

This is the more correct rendering of the term and doesn't carry nearly the amount of problems as how the term is translated now.
