Look up Evelyn Waugh’s little-known short novel, “Helena,” a fictionalized account of her search for the True Cross. It’s excellent. Ditto his even less well-known biography of Edmund Campion.

I have heard of that one, but never read it. I have read this excellent novel by Louis de Wohl on the same subject:



It is quite long, but an enjoyable read.
