I have heard protestants on this forum claim:
Mary is not a virgin.
Mary had pre-marital sex
Mary slept with several men.
Mary sinned.
None of the above is in scripture.
Mary was a sinner - she said she needed a Savior.
Mary was a virgin until after Christ was born. They waited.
The rest, I've never seen on the Religion forum in the past 20 years.
Post some links please.
Close but no cigar. first of all I have not said most of those things so you are addressing the wrong person
The two I agree with and are is scripture: Mary did not remain a virgin after Jesus. His siblings are named in Scripture. And she was not sinless. She calls Christ her savior. A sinless woman has no need of a savior.
All correct except your repudiation of “Mary sinned.”
“For ALL have sinned ...”
“The soul that sinneth , it shall die.”
If Mary was sinless, she would be alive right?
Mary sinned; you missed.
Links, please.
Mary sinned
And yes, that IS in Scripture by her own admission of needing a Savior.
Claiming Mary was not a virgin is heresy; claiming Mary's marriage to Joseph was consummated as is purposed is not heresy.
And insisting that she remained a virgin, while Scripture nowhere states that, and the evidence weighs toward consummation, and the Holy Spirit characteristically notes exceptions to the norm even among lesser figures, is presumption.
And asserting that those who deny perpetual Marian virginity (PMV) since that is what Scripture at least infers, is arrogant false teaching.
