...get some grass cut before the rains begin again.

That was my dad's favorite go to phrase when I was a younger dude.

We could be in a drought and he'd say that!

no way.

Nothing more than a highly orchestrated well-funded cult.

“I am a back-puncher so-to-speak. I have never sought to attack someone because of their sincere beliefs.

It appears that doesn’t include people who sincerely believe the Nicene Creed.

Ouch. That’s gonna leave a mark.
Interesting to see if it’ll buff out.

It's why they could think black people bore the curse of Ham in the 1960s, but that they can become "elders" in their church today.
--------
I did find it amusing that Richard Kimball eventually had an "in camera" visit from God to tell him it was OK to have black participation.
-----------
The problem with the Church of LDS is that it doesn't base its beliefs on Scripture, but on the "revelation" of church leaders.
--------------
I'd be careful pointing the finger at that.  The richly elaborated Marion "theology" is mostly a matter of human reasoning in the service of wishful thinking.  They've had two thousand years to 'elaborate,' and boy, did they use the time.

I simply ask you to consider what the Bible says about God and Christ instead of relying on the non-biblical Nicene Creed.... and you refused. So much for objectivity.

And if you will notice .... that was the ‘back-punch’ that I was referring to.

Yes the proof about the falsehood of the Nicene Creed is in the Bible.

Evidence 1: John 17:21-24 Christ describes his ‘oneness’.

Evidence 2: Mathew 27: 46 God forsakes Christ during his dying moments.

try those on for size for now and I can give you a dozen later.

Isaiah 2

2 And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.

3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

I'm reading Eric Metaxas's biography of Luther right now. One of the interesting points he raised in the Leipzig disputation he had with Eck is the fact that the doctrine of Papal infallibility-at the time-was less than 400 years-old. That is, the early Roman Catholic church claimed was nothing like the pre-Reformation church, let alone what we have today.

My church produced a great tract for St. Patrick's Day that debunked some of the myths surrounding Patricius and the evangelization of Ireland.

Pope Celestine I, who commissioned that evangelization, himself sent out an edict commanding that priests and bishops not wear distinctive garb or apparel.

So even the Roman Catholic Church was much not as untethered from Scripture as what we see today.

1. I do not rely on the Nicene Creed. Never mentioned it. You did.

2. I believe the Scriptures and what they reveal about Christ.

3. You never answered my questions. With your advanced mormon education, I'd guess it would be simple. Is it possible you do not want to answer these questions for a reason??

Let me put them before you again:

Do you believe there is a “Heavenly Mother”?
How many heavenly mothers are there?
Does polygamy exist in heaven?
Are there other gods of other worlds?
Do you believe God the Father had sex with Mary to produce Jesus?
Did Christ always exist, with no beginning or end, eternally?
Do you believe you may become a god/goddess some day?
How many Gods do you believe in?
If you believe in multiple gods, please explain how more than one god can be: Omnipotent?
Do you wear the magic underwear?
Was Christ created as a spirit child of all people and of Satan?
Did Christ later become a god?

If Christ is God, do you worship Him as God? Here I refer to the Christ of the Bible, who God says every knee will bow and every tongue will confess HE is above all. In heaven, angels and saints fall before Him and worship Him.

Do you??

..........

From the the first appearance of Christ on earth, He was worshipped: "Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him." (Matthew 2:2)

The Apostle Paul specifically called Jesus “our great God and Savior” (Titus 2:13) and reveals that, prior to His birth, He existed in the “form of God” (Philippians 2:5–8).

Jesus is identified as the Creator and Sustainer of the universe (John 1:3; Colossians 1:16–17; Hebrews 1:2).

Jesus receives worship multiple times in the Gospels (Matthew 2:11; 28:9, 17; Luke 24:52; John 9:38; 20:28).

The Apostle Paul reveals that at the name of Christ, “every knee should bow” and every tongue confess that he is Lord (GOD) (Philippians 2:10-11).

"This Son, radiance of the glory of God, flawless expression of the nature of God, himself the upholding principle of all that is, effected in person the reconciliation between God and man and then took his seat at the right hand of the majesty on high—thus proving himself, by the more glorious name that he has won, far greater than all the angels of God. … But when he [the Father] speaks of the Son, he says: ‘Your throne, O God, is forever and ever …" (Hebrews 1:3-4, 8)

“Blessing, and honor, and glory, and power be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb forever and ever.”

teppe, none of these is evidence the Nicene Creed is false, as you claim.

You have to do way better than make assertions to prove your truth claim.

So far, it simply appears you do not know the meaning of "oneness", nor the necessity of the Father forsaking Christ. It appears you've been taught a list to support what you already decided to believe. Yet the understanding of those passages seems absent in your post.

Best.

Elsie, it’s precisely because I believe in the ultimate, overriding importance of the spiritual/religious impulse within individuals that I DON’T believe in ‘compelling’.

I find your tactics very off-putting, and don’t believe that an approach so full of personal, individual ego can enlighten or bring many people to the Lord.

Fair enough - a personal opinion.

Do you consider the Apostle Paul's approach correct?

"And I will keep on doing what I am doing in order to cut the ground from under those who want an opportunity to be considered equal with us in the things they boast about. For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, masquerading as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve. 2 Corinthians 11:11-13

Evidently you didn't either.
