WASHINGTON, D.C., March 29, 2019 (LifeSiteNews) — The Holy See has indicated that pro-LGBT Archbishop Wilton Gregory of Atlanta may be appointed as the next head of the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C., sparking controversy among some Catholic conservatives.

An official announcement could come as early as next week, although Vatican sources have hedged their bets, suggesting to the Catholic News Agency (CNA) that his appointment is “subject to change.”

Gregory will succeed Cardinal Donald Wuerl, who stepped down in the aftermath of last year’s Pennsylvania Grand Jury Report on clergy sexual abuse when it appeared he was continuing a pattern of obfuscation and cover-up.

One Catholic lay group expressed grave “reservations” about about the appointment of Archbishop Gregory as archbishop of Washington.

“We urge the Holy See to seek out a worthy candidate who is without ties to Joseph Cardinal Bernardin, Mr. Theodore McCarrick, or Donald Cardinal Wuerl,” Catholic Laity for Orthodox Bishops and Reform stated in a press release.

I guess this means that with your excellent non-Catholic knowledge of scripture you are able to confirm my quotation, which would certainly support your point.

You have to admit the abuse scandal and coverup by the church bureaucrats looks like nothing so much as a big city public school monopoly covering its behind to the detriment of the kids and families

Christ didn’t pray for a single monopolistic bureaucracy dictating to all his followers; his prayer can sensibly be interpreted as one for charity brotherhood and alliance among those who call Him Lord

I’m not exactly sure precisely what Christ was praying for—and I don’t think that we are exactly giving Him what he would like.

The Father and Son are something more than allied.

God from God, Light from Light, True God from True God, Consubstantial (or One in Being if you please) with the Father.

That’s a little stronger than allied.

Yeah, the chosen people have warts—and their leadership has warts. I think that if one cracks open the Old Testament, God used to be in the habit of writing straight with crooked lines.

Maybe he stopped when the King James Bible became flesh and dwelt among the chosen ones.

All human beings have warts. As the founders understood, that’s why you risk tyranny and abuse when you lodge governing power in unchecked, monopolistic, unaccountable bureaucracies

There will be an accounting, eventually.

The founders did the best possible job of writing a document for a fallen people which does not necessarily take advantage of redemption and does not have a means of redemption within its control.

Many societies might profit from their wisdom.

A Redeemer who is omniscient and omnipotent may opt to aim a little higher. Mine did. Jefferson is good, Jesus is better.

Or rather, Jefferson is good, Jesus is great, and people are crazy.

I suspect Jesus is a lot more outraged with those RC priests who have preyed on children and been protected by their bishops, than he is with families exercising some freedom of choice - and individual conscience - in deciding to worship him in other denominations.

Can’t disagree with that
