When was there ever a “Catholic Party”? The previous Popes didn’t spend all their time talking political agendas like the current one. Global warming, economic equality, immigrant rights, those are all left-wing political buzz phrases, and all he preaches.
Europe has (or had) a history of “Catholic parties.” in countries such as Italy, the Christian Democrats were de facto the “Catholic party” in that they appealed to practicing Catholics as voters, opposed communism and were generally on friendly terms with the Church. Similarly, the CSU in Bavaria was and perhaps still is very much the “Catholic party.” The Christian Democrats in Italy, West Germany and the Benelux countries were an important bulwark against Soviet communism 1945-89. As such, it’s unsurprising that Bergoglio, who never met a commie he didn’t love, would oppose the concept.
......”The previous Popes didnt spend all their time talking political agendas like the current one”.....
Well yes they did....they always have... but it was often kept below the radar of the press. Why do you think leaders of countries always pay a visit to see the Popes.....they recognize clearly the available wealth and political nature of the catholic church ‘leadership’....unfortunately the membership doesn’t see it.
He speaks to Catholic parties that existed in Europe in the past like the “Christian Democratic Party” in Italy for example.
