Pope Francis announced Monday that the Vatican’s archives on controversial World War II-era pope Pius XII would be opened up eight years earlier than planned, in 2020, a move seen as an olive branch to Jews who have criticized the Vatican for not doing enough during the Holocaust.

“The church is not afraid of history,” Pope Francis said, announcing the move in a speech to members of the Vatican’s Secret Archives. “On the contrary, it loves it, and would like to love it even more, like it loves God.”

I do not trust the Pope at all and would not trust that anything HE says will have come from the Vatican archives indeed will have come from there. He is a liar and a fraud who does not believe in the Catholic faith and who hates the Church. God knows what will be released that ostensibly will be “from the Vatican Archives”...but will not really be from there.

“Opening the Vatican records on this era may reveal some shortcomings, but it also may reveal that Pius was doing more to oppose Naziism/Facism and to protect its victims than has been previously revealed.”

Not with this Pope running the show. He hates the Church.

Connecting the Pope to the Nazi’s was a project of the Soviet Union. One thing you can say for the American press, they’ve never lost their love for Joseph Stalin.

SQUIRREL!

A YUGE distraction. Steer everyone’s eyes to Pius’ alleged pussyfooting with the Nazis and pay no attention to the trainwreck that is the Vatican today.

... Pius XII’s detractors prefer to criticize rather than simply look at the evidence. Two years ago, Pope Benedict XVI ordered the opening of the Vatican’s archives up to 1939, containing much evidence of Eugenio Pacelli’s activities leading up to his papacy. According to the sign-in sheets, few of Pius’ critics have bothered to come to the archives to view the material.

Pinchas Lapide, a Jewish historian, theologian and Israeli ambassador, stated that the actions and policies of Pius XII saved as many as 860,000 Jews.

Albert Einstein, Golda Meir, the chief rabbi of Palestine, the chief rabbi of Rome and the heads of every Jewish organization showered praise upon him during his lifetime...

I don’t recall FDR EVER claiming he spoke for God. Or that he was God’s representative on this earth. Or that he was an APOSTLE. Or that he was the latest keeper of rock. Or the keys to heaven. Or that he was given the power to loose or retain men’s sins. Or that he could turn wine into blood. Or wafers into Jesus Christ.
I could go on but I’m sure you get my

Okay, but Popes aren’t Apostles and don’t claim to be. Bishops are successors of the apostles, but not apostles themselves.

No reason for the church to HAVE secret files.

They're secret because they involve individuals and their private lives. That's why they wait 70 years to open them up, so everyone involved is (almost certainly) dead.

I’m talking ALL OF THEIR ARCHIVES!!! Not just the WW-II section.... THE ENTIRE DAMNED LIBERRY!

Everything prior to 1939 is open to legitimate researchers, and has been for some time.

Or book burning during the reformation period. But the CC did it anyway.

In fact a CC priest burned what was the last known written language of the Mayan Indians.

What’s a little hidden file about the holocaust?

> I’m talking ALL OF THEIR ARCHIVES!!! Not just the WW-II section.... THE ENTIRE DAMNED LIBERRY!

Most people misunderstand what an “Archivum Secretum” (a “secret archive”) actually is. The word “secretum” can be translated to any of “separate/apart from”, “private, secret”, “remote”, or “hidden”.

Do you have a locked file cabinet? Then you have a “secret archive”. Does your company have files locked away in a place where they are generally not accessible except to those who need them? Then they have a “secret archive”. The government has a “secret archive” of classified documents.

Some of these documents are sensitive because they pertain to the reputation of others (this is especially important concerning those still living); others are simply very old documents that can’t withstand large amounts of handling.
Still others are “lost” because the Vatican Archives have so many documents and books in them.

Just because it exists in the Church’s possession doesn’t mean that any given Catholic has a right to access any or all of it. Non-Catholics certainly don’t have a right to. This is the same as the way that not just anybody should expect to see classified government documents, a private business’s documents, or the contents of your locked file cabinet.

That said, either when asked or on its own initiative the Vatican does make releases of documents from time to time, and also grants scholars permission to do research.

The archives in question cover 1939-1958. Not sure how you get 1800+ years of missing history out of that. ]

I’m talking ALL OF THEIR ARCHIVES!!! Not just the WW-II section.... THE ENTIRE DAMNED LIBERRY!

Since you are making this demand, you need to talk to Napoleon.
