A mid-west pastor criticized evangelical Christians on Sunday for making the abortion issue their top priority at the voting booth.
In a column at USA Today, Pastor Doug Pagitt claimed evangelicals are trading their moral core by voting for pro-life Republicans and supporting President Donald Trump.
These conservative leaders are willing, at all costs, to make a moral trade anti-abortion laws and court decisions in exchange for basic human dignity, the Minneapolis pastor argued.
Pagitt claimed Republicans ignore the most vulnerable people in America today.
The Republican Party has used the issue of abortion as a tool to manipulate religious leaders across the country, Pagitt wrote. These leaders highest concern is self-preservation. They fear Gods wrath and want impunity.
But in their fear, they have become blinded and desensitized to all other injustices and inhumanities: children separated from parents, refugees refused safety, women denigrated and abused, and health care denied to the vulnerable, he continued.
These are not positions informed by the teachings of Jesus Christ to the contrary, they are antithetical to what Jesus preached, he added.
He attacked evangelical leader Franklin Graham, calling him complicit in this administrations war on the vulnerable. Ironically, Graham, who is strongly pro-life, also runs an organization that provides Christmas presents and other material support to millions of impoverished children across the world.

Pagitts issue with Graham was his support of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, who was accused of sexual assault. The FBI did not find any evidence corroborating the allegations, and the Senate narrowly confirmed him as the fifth conservative justice earlier this month.
The pastor also claimed evangelicals make abortion a bigger priority than it should be.
Many of us are taught from a young age that abortion is the issue on which our vote should always hinge. The hope among many evangelicals is to make abortion illegal, he wrote. Evidence, however, suggests that criminalization does not reduce abortions. In fact, studies show that criminalizing abortion does nothing to protect babies, but instead endangers mothers.
But there are studies, government data, expert statements and other evidence that indicate the opposite: making abortion illegal would protect unborn babies and women.
Pagitt also is the executive director of Vote Common Good, an organization that is working to flip Congress for the common good to Democrats control. Interestingly, one of the groups commitments is to uphold the God-given dignity of all people, no exceptions. But Pagitt makes a very big exception by advocating against those who protect unborn babies.
Every year, nearly 1 million unborn babies are legally killed in abortions across America. These babies already were living, growing human beings with their own unique DNA. Most of them likely already had heartbeats, and some were nearly full term. Some are discriminated against because of a disability or their gender. And there are very few protections for them. The United States is one of only seven countries that allow elective abortions after 20 weeks, a fact confirmed by the Washington Post fact checker.
The unborn are among the most vulnerable members of society today, but political progressives like Pagitt turn a blind eye to their plight.

I’m thinking he’s probably friendly with imams
The collectivist priority list that follows indicates this individual's true agenda.
Christian Group Launches Nationwide Revival Tour to Oppose Republicans in Midterms
A politically-liberal Christian organization will host get-out-the-vote revivals in nearly 30 towns across the nation this coming month in an effort to unseat Republican members of Congress this fall.
Led by Minnesota pastor Doug Pagitt and fueled by opposition to Trump administration policies, Vote Common Good rallies will be held in at least 10 states before the Nov. 6 midterm elections. The rallies will feature live worship music and a rotating cast of mostly left-leaning Christian leaders, authors and activists who will attest to why Christians should vote for the Democrats.
The stated goal of Vote Common Good, which is the brainchild of a meeting of anti-Trump evangelical leaders that took place in Colorado in May, is to flip Congress for the common good.
Another Fag for Satan
I’ve heard a lot of folks say that President Trump is pro-life. I don’t see any significant difference between his kind of pro-life and the pro-abortion folks’ policies. There were an estimated 2,500-some surgical abortions on a typical day before Trump took office, and the number is probably unchanged by Trump’s presence. The Constitution is quite clear that no person shall be deprived of their life without due process. If Trump has come to the understanding that yes, all us humans are persons from the very earliest stage of our development as individuals, then he’s been abrogating his oath to uphold the Constitution every time he signs a bill that says abortion is ok under color of law.
I’ve known that Hillary was a disgrace to our nation since FreeRepublic first opened up. I am grateful that she wasn’t elected. But neither Trump nor any of the other big-name GOP candidates in 2015-16 campaign came close to meeting my simple minimum standard for support, either. So I did my best to raise up someone who did.
I sure support folks who want to help others, but if it involves federal government doing things outside its constitutional authority (as so much it does already is), then some other way to help others is what’s needed. There’s nothing wrong with discussing whether and how to amend the Constitution. Heck, I urge folks to abolish the 16th and 17th Amendments as soon as possible. But the fellow who’s lambasting Christians for overemphasizing pro-life too much sounds like he’s quite ignorant about the unalienable rights that our Declaration of Independence recognizes, and about the explicit guarantee that NO PERSON shall be deprived of their life without due process.
The candidate I supported in 2016, by the way, was a FRreeper — Eternal Vigilance is his screen name. He’s Tom Hoefling of Iowa, and I hope you’ll encourage him to provide a moral conservative alternative to voters in the 2020 GOP primaries.
These assholes have been around for 2,000 years.
Peter had this to say about them
2 Pet 2:1-3
But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber.
I checked the website of Pagitt’s church (Solomon’s Porch) and found plenty of man-centered drivel about “our dreams” and “finding ourselves” and “wellness” and yoga - but not a word about the offensive name of Jesus. Therefore, it’s no surprise that Pagitt seems so comfortable with the slaughter of unborn children.
Pagitt claimed Republicans ignore the most vulnerable people in America today.
What a hypocrite. There is no more vulnerable among us that the pre-born babies he is willing to slaughter.
Natch.
We should send him a ticket to see the movie “Gosnell”.
He is writing as a communist fool, a useful tool. If he wants to help people in other countries he should go to those countries and help transform them.
Bringing hoards of people here to break our Country down, is only going to destroy one of the only countries which can help elevate these fallen cultures, where they stand.
Many of these poor countries have vast resources, but corruption and immorality robs their people. Them bringing the spirit of pride, corruption, entitlement and hatred for our Country here only serves to destroy us.
They need to use their strength and intelligence to transform their own countries, not abandon them to come to ours.
They claim national pride. They often proudfully invision taking our Country, not becoming productive, grateful citizens. They proudly wave their flags.
They need to come to Christ, in a living way, and let Him empower them to make their own countries great, not steal ours.
If this “pastor” wants to help them, as well as others, they should go to their countries, where their troubles start, and help them to learn how to live righteously and humbly before The Living LORD. Then they will be able to begin to clean up their own countries, rather than export their proud, failing ways here, merely to fleece us of everything we have, and stand for.
It’s time, too, for our citizens to come back to our foundations with The LORD. All of our problems are merely symptoms of our leaving God, in way too many ways, and our own lack of each one of us submitting ourselves to Him, in Jesus Holy Name, with all of our heart, body, mind, soul and spirit. As a nation this is our privilege, purpose and our calling.
“..., Pastor Doug Pagitt claimed evangelicals are trading their moral core by voting for pro-life Republicans and supporting President Donald Trump.”
Projection. It’s not just for movie theaters anymore.
No and he should eat shiite and die
Same here. I’m in a union, a good useful one, and they tell us to vote out pocketbook. I tell my rep, that I won’t trade my soul for a paycheck. Endorsing murder of the most innocent is a soul-losing action. Won’t do it.
From your link, Pagitt’s deceptive game is revealed:
“Pagitt, when asked on C-SPAN about Vote Common Goods sources of funding, ducked and racked it up to private donations, before spinning the conversation off rapidly in a public relations direction.”
Pagitt is a social justice Marxist funded by Soros.
Liberation Theologian.
= Marxist, not Christian.
Yes....he’s knee deep in the “emerging church movement”..which is bad news for the church body of believers..... Their main goal under their big tent ideology is to make the deviant lifestyle of unrepentant homosexuality and others like this ‘acceptable’ for the evangelical Christian....also to attack Sola Scriptura.
There’s a bunch of guys like him attempting to advance into mainstream evangelicalism pushing for these.....they’re more like guru’s than Pastors.
Dude looks like he could suck the chrome off a bumper.
Just sayin’...
The most vulnerable are the unborn. This guy is nuts.
I s Pagitt a member of the mainstream churche which have sold their souls to the devil?
