Though I suspect if you did a poll, you'd find about 10X as many "evangelicals" denying that Catholics are Christians, than vice versa. Here's your chance; for both Prots and Catholics are in this thread.

...and I have never seen a Catholic at this site who said Protestants are not Christians. While I have never seen a Catholic at this site who has said that the 1215 quote I post quite often was EVER rescinded!

As I was walking across a bridge one day; I saw a man standing outside the railing, about to jump off.
So I ran over and said, "Stop! Don't do it!"
"Why shouldn't I?" he said.
I said, "Well, there's so much to live for!"
He said, "Like what?"
I said, "Well...are you religious or atheist?"
He said, "Religious."
I said, "Me too! Are you Christian or Buddhist?"
He said, "Christian."
I said, "Me too! Are you Catholic or Protestant?"
He said, "Protestant."
I said, "Me too! Are you Episcopalian or Baptist?"
He said, "Baptist!"
I said,"Wow! Me too! Are you Baptist Church of GOD or Baptist Church of the Lord?"
He said, "Baptist Church of GOD!"
I said, "Me too! Are you Original Baptist Church of GOD, or are you Reformed Baptist Church of GOD?"
He said,"Reformed Baptist Church of GOD!"
I said, "Me too! Are you Reformed Baptist Church of GOD, reformation of 1879, or Reformed Baptist Church of GOD, reformation of 1915?"
He said, "Reformed Baptist Church of GOD, reformation of 1915!"
I said, "Die, heretic scum", and pushed him off.

No, if one confesses Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of the Living God, one is a Christian. But what does that 'christian' lack by not jumping thru all of the hoops placed before them by the Roman Catholic Church?

Christians can suffer from partial knowledge, and even heresies, and still be considered Christian. You need to touch base with some of your fellow FR Catholics; for a BUNCH of them do NOT label their present pope with this tag.

If it's a FReeper Catholic, give me his/her FReepername and I will sally forth and whomp them with my Catechism. Just look at the names of some of your Roman Catholic caucus posters.
>>"Catholics regularly tell non-Catholics they are going to hell since they are heretics and have ex-=communicated themselves, which effectively damns them according to Catholic teaching."<<
I've never seen this, really I haven't -- but I'm betting you have.
You must not have read the Council of Trent....or Unam Sanctam...or any of the other myriad of pre-Vatican II statements by Roman Catholicism.
Are you prepared to say they are all incorrect?

So Catholic doctrine explicitly teaches that a person in innocent error is not, for that reason, non-Christian or hated by God or damned.Does it "explicitly define" what innocent error is??

No, if one confesses Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of the Living God, one is a Christian. Jews would agree that those who do such are Christians. The question then becomes...do Roman Catholics believe this?

I don't really care what individual Catholics know; or believe.
I want to know what the LEADERS of the church and it's historical teachings have to say on the matter.

In a similar vein, Cardinal Oscar Maradiaga of Honduras has excoriated a group of 50 Honduran seminarians for petitioning the Vatican to correct homosexual abuses going on in their seminary. We apparently are to believe that 50 seminaries are spreading malicious lies, while Madariaga, whose top aide resigned last July in the wake of charges of sexual and financial misconduct, is only speaking the truth.Apparently the Catholic religion is still working at cranking out queer priests...
Guess it's like President Trump's DOJ and FBI...Everybody at the top is corrupt and there's no way to get any good guys up there...
There's got to be so few 'straight' priests and they surely know about the rapes and abuse going on around them, but have no one to go to that would help clean the swamp...

One thing I love about the Catholic Faith, is that our doctrines can pretty reliably be found at the Catechism of the Catholic Church Where can I find all the wonderful things about Mary in it; that so MANY Catholics believe so fervently?
Where can I find novenas that never fail in it?

They'd rather just tear down Catholicism on the basis of what they've "seen" Catholics do, like "I've SEEN The Catholics worship the Virgin Mary as a goddess". Can't have that; can we!!
For a low; LOW! price of ONLY $11.95...

The Claude Paradigm
You Catholics are wrong because you believe X.
We dont believe X.
Wrong again. Yes you do.
The Elsie Paradigm
You Catholics are mislead because you practice X.

I am Scripturally double minded:
Proverbs 26:4-5 New International Version (NIV)
4 Do not answer a fool according to his folly,
or you yourself will be just like him.
5 Answer a fool according to his folly,
or he will be wise in his own eyes.
