"Shriners hide the terrifying abuses of a secretive organization behind smiling clowns, candy and tear-jerking, sentimental ads for childrens hospitals while soliciting millions from an unsuspecting uninformed public."

We acknowledge God and Jesus in prayer.
You must believe in a higher power and eternal life to become a Mason.
A Buddhist, Hindu, etc cannot be made a Mason
Masonry is not a religion.
Masonry seeks to unite men of all sects, the high the low, rich poor and regards no man on account of his worldly goods.
It is the internal, not the external, which makes a Mason.
We don’t teach anything except that you will one day sail past that bourne from which no man returns to that place eternal in the heavens and your body will be returned to the earth as dust, the same as the dust from which we were created.
Little wordy there. Does that help?
It is allegorical in that the punishment isn’t going to happen.
Your honor to keep secrets is the point of the oath.
That is, there really isn’t anything secret within masonry. It is all there on the internet.
However, a thing that should be kept secret should be kept secret.
For instance, a friend shares some information of a personal nature and requests you keep it between each other or you really should know it was private.
You may, for instance, have the idea someone else may be able to help and want to share that person with your friend and explain the problem.
You should not violate your integrity and bring that other person into the knowledge that was shared, unless you speak with your friend and he agrees.
Otherwise you will demonstrate you are not to be trusted.
Same with money or anything else with a lodge or brothers, etc.
Keep yer maw shut.
That’s the whole secret
Sorry, it is decidedly NOT satanic. You might want to be a little more skeptical about what you read.
You are off by a couple of centuries.
“The Masons are a Satanic cult.”
What evidence do you have to support that conclusion?
The oaths taken, for one thing.
The Satanic symbolism in their symbols for another.
This is grown men taking these oaths, which,BTW, Jesus told us not to take.
Matthew 5:33-37 Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform to the Lord what you have sworn. But I say to you, Do not take an oath at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God, or by the earth, for it is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. And do not take an oath by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black. Let what you say be simply Yes or No; anything more than this comes from evil.
Böoooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!
“A Buddhist, Hindu, etc cannot be made a Mason”
Not sure I buy that, I mean the lodges of India don’t have any Hindus in them?
Freegards
My late grandfather was a Shriner. God bless your friend’s son
You might be a wonderfully kind person, but someone perusing FR for the first time would think we are nutters with your comments.
I knew I should have gone directly to Satan. You middlemen never do anything
LOL
Yes, thanks.
I asked because my grandfather was a mason and at his funeral, the masons came and did a brief ceremony that never mentioned Christ.
As a side note, my uncle was the head guy in the US a few years back...
Did you read the oaths they take are the very beginning levels, the entry levels?
It’s at one of the links.
THAT is what sounds crazy, that grown men would take oaths like that.
Anyway, if someone thinks I’m crazy, there’s not much I can do about that.
They’ll have to look into it themselves and decide for themselves.
Ping me if you get a reply to that :-)
Pk that’s a fair answer & you’re correct, if you believe it that’s what is important.
I apologize for being rude. And I have to say you handled it in a classy way.
