Bowing at the mention of Jesus name is an old practice that has since fallen into wide disuse
Msgr. Charles Pope June 10, 2018
Question: I was taught to nod my head when the name of Jesus was spoken. I see some priests and congregants do it, but not most. What is the current practice? — Diane Garrett, via email
Answer: Liturgically it is not required. This is a pious custom that, while less common today, is still observed by many. This is not only in the liturgy, but at any time the name of Jesus is uttered, and also, quite commonly, the name of Mary. In the traditional Latin Mass, where clergy wear birettas (a kind of square hat with a pom), there is the additional tipping (lifting off) of the biretta at the names of Jesus, Mary and the saint of the day. This external and very visible action also helped the faithful remember to bow their heads.
This laudable custom has sadly declined. Some clergy and others still observe it, and, while it is not required, it is worthy of being encouraged. Other customs too should not be forgotten, such as making the Sign of the Cross when passing a Catholic Church, praying the Angelus at noon and 6 p.m., and so forth. The generations raised in the 1960s and ’70s largely abandoned such practices. However, many of their children have rediscovered some of these lost customs like a precious heirloom brought down from the attic. Thus, while being careful not to harshly judge those who do not follow this non-required custom, many can joyfully take it up again and encourage others to do so.
I guess this also rules you out of saying the Hail Mary or the Rosary?
Paul is a man and said he became what, again?
I don't think so.

You guess a lot about the Catholic faith. You should actually spend some time learning about it instead of guessing.
To be clear....you're saying you never bow before a statue/image of Mary and pray or burn incense or light a candle before the same?
And still you are so wrong.
1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
You might also look at: Judges 17:6 In those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did that which was right in his own eyes. ...
In Catholicism's case, substitute 'Rome's dictum' where you read 'his eyes'. Romish religion is a manufactured version of Christianity, running on traditions of men who could not discern the spiritual so they injected aspects of the pagan religions, to ritualize over their ignorance of the spirit they did not know.
Catholicism is satan's greatest work; Islam is satan's second greatest work. Both religions are ushering untold millions to spiritual destruction since both are contrary to The Grace of God in Christ and are works based religions not from God.
And still you are so wrong.
You're sounding like another RC poster whose only reply when confronted with the Truth was, "you're wrong".
That's some apologetical argument you've got there.
I don't bow to statues or images of Mary. I don't burn incense or light candles to images of Mary.
Truth in your own imagination.
You do not understand the phrase ‘graven images’. The coins we use do not have imprinted on them a being claimed to be a god. The coins I use have faces of dead presidents on them.
You crack me up.
So, a graven image has to have an imprint claiming to be god? That's some interesting doctrine you adhere to.
I don't believe I said that the body inhabited by the "old man" was the one which would arise to meet the Savior in the clouds.
Regarding The Risen Jesus (Who apparently took different humanoid forms), even His close disciples did not recognize Him until He showed them His wounds that were still in His risen body. Two of His followers whom He joined as they traveled (Lk. 24:13-31) did not recognize Him until they saw his hands up close. Beloved John saw Jesus in His Heavenly form (Rev. 1:13-16). It was John that wrote the verse cited (1 Jn. 3:2).
Will those who knew a saved person in this temporal sphere (whose body had grown and changed) recognize him/her in the spiritual sphere by what the spiritual body looks like? I think not. I doubt that the spirit body will be made of the old flesh and the old bones. But I believe one can deduce from the Scriptures that the body will be in the image of Jehovah Elohim, and it will be of flesh and bone, humanoid in shape, and like (not exactly the same) as to that of the Risen Savior.
This will not be the case for the Christ-denier, AFIK.
I am not sure that John 6:63 has any significant meaning in this context. Why don't you give us an exegetical treatment of it to show what it does mean in the context in which the words were spoken, and tell if it can be applied here?
At this point of my understanding, I don't feel I have the freedom to speculate as to how Hebrews 9:27-28 applies:
"And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:Maybe someone else has a better insight.
So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many;
and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time
withoutapart from sin unto salvation."
You are in a distinct minority or Romam Catholics.
Not from what I can tell.
Not sure where you live, but it is practiced by a substantial number of your fellow RCs.
I doubt it. I've been around quite a bit.
I doubt it. I've been around quite a bit.
If what you say is true, would you call upon all Roman Catholics to cease kneeling before the statutes of Mary, praying to her, etc?
