As a Hoosier; I have an accent. I guess we ALL do here; but I think it's 'normal'.
Once, on a road trip to Disneyworld; my 15 yo daughter and myself had stopped at a McDonalds somewhere in the deep south and gotten some chow.
After sitting down, she leaned over and said, "Dad; they sure talk funny down here."
I replied, "No; WE are the ones who talk funny down here."

Growing up, I had a Nodak twang. Then I lived in Texas and got a bit of a southern drawl. Now, living in this south sea island paradise, I cannot figure out if I have a tagalatwang or what. 😁
We had British friends that related an experience they had trying to get a cash advance at a bank here. The teller couldn’t understand what they were saying and she asked, “Sir, do you speak English?”. To which he replied, “Young lady, we INVENTED English!”. ;o)
