Controversy has surrounded the Saint Anselm Chapter of the Knights of Columbus recently as former Grand Knight Andrew Keyes resigned over what he claims was unfair discrimination based on his sexuality. Members from the school and national chapters have all issued responses to the Saint Anselm Crier over the events which have transpired.
Keyes, a double major in Criminal Justice and Politics in the Class of 2018, states that he was approached by the schools chapter and told that he was formally asked to resign after he brought a member of the same sex to the Knights of Columbus Formal held on March 16. In an interview with the Crier, the Massachusetts Native said that at the event he didnt receive any negative backlash for his decision to bring a male date to the formal. According to Keyes, many people were aware of his sexuality and the night continued smoothly. In the days following the formal, he claims knowledge of what occurred at the formal became public and it was requested by some that action be taken against the Grand Knight.
Keyes has been part of the Saint Anselm Chapter for four years states that he was not told outright that he was being forced to quit, but suspected that the Chapter was being pressured by the Supreme Council with threats to cut funding. Keyes told the Crier that while Chapter Chaplain Father Benedict Guevin was incredibly supportive, he expressed to Andrew that his hands were essentially tied. Keyes stated that in a meeting with Father Benedict, he said I do not want any fight in the community- you can either resign peacefully or fight it and choose to go through an impeachment trial.

I support his ouster.
It seems that the old thinking that homosexuals are 2% of the population is understated. Their recruitment efforts seem to be working.
Me too. He brought his ‘wife’ ? Um, Catholics don’t hold sodomy in high regard.
Might have been because his date’s shoes, dress and purse didn’t match and not so much about his sexuality.
Keyes...states that he was not told outright that he was being forced to quit, but suspected that the Chapter was being pressured by the Supreme Council with threats to cut funding."
Doesn't sound like he was ousted, but that he read the writing on the wall of what was probably coming down based on his public actions and preemptively resigned, while taking the opportunity to whine a little about being "discriminated" against. Whatever, the result is the right one.
Support his ouster.
Does he even study what he claims to honor and cherish?
We’re supposed to be outraged that a well-known Catholic organization sent a fudgepacker packing?
I left the Knights here in L.A. because they werent doing jack sh*t about charity, which was the reason why I joined. All we do is order pizza and drink beer at the meetings. Come to think of it, maybe I should have stayed..

The K of C started out as a mutual benefit society to provide life insurance to Catholic working men. Most of the other societies that did that sort of thing in the 19th Century either discriminated against Catholics, or were organizations (like the Odd Fellows and Freemasons) which Catholics were prohibited from joining.
A practicing homosexual cannot truthfully she he supports the doctrines of the Catholic Church. He HAD to be kicked out; end of story.
Has no place in KoC.
Yeah, only slightly out of concert with the Church’s teachings. Historical, that is. Not from the current Marxist Liberation theory occupier of Peter’s Chair.
I remember well their original whine... ...all we ask for is a little tolerance...
