Benedict XVI: ‘I Am on a Pilgrimage Home’

In a new letter, the Pope Emeritus speaks of his declining strength but says he is surrounded by 'love and goodness'

The Pope Emeritus has written to an Italian newspaper to say he is “on a pilgrimage Home” in this “final period of my life”.

In a nine-line letter to Corriere della Serra, Benedict XVI thanks the paper’s readers for their concern, and assures them he is surrounded “by a love and a goodness that I could not have imagined”.

“I was moved that so many readers of your newspaper want to know how I am spending this last period of my life,” he said.

“I can only say in this regard that, in the slow decline of physical strengths, inwardly I am on a pilgrimage Home,” he added, capitalising the Italian word ‘Casa’.

“It is a great grace for me to be surrounded, in this rather tiring last piece of the road, by a love and a goodness that I could not have imagined.”

Benedict XVI: ‘I Am on a Pilgrimage Home’

Before he get's "home", I would hope he would at least sign the dubia or the filial correction. Retired clerics have signed both of them, I don't see why Benedict can't.

Rottweilers are intelligent, loyal, and protective. Kinda fits Ratzinger.

Yep.

And one doesn’t have to embrace Catholic theology to respect Benedict as someone who did his best to serve God as he believed in Him and sees Evil and the works thereof as what they are

Popes die in office.
They are supposed to Pope until dead.

The ImPopester is so bad there can only be a nefarious explanation.

I remember reading, close to two decades ago, a prophecy article saying the last Pope would be named Benedict.

This was before Ratzinger became Pope.

I wish I would’ve saved the story.

God bless and keep this good man.

Seriously!? I’m sure the thought has never crossed his mind for either one. Benedict is vastly superior to those playing Machiavellian games with Church doctrine to carve out mini-citadels.

His silence speaks volumes.

“My guess is some corrupt liberal Western governments are blackmailing the church and using sex scandals as leverage.”

That only works if they had something on Pope Benedict himself. Are you saying that’s the case?

Then how did church scandals force his resignation?

Benedict needs to come out of retirement and dethrone Francis.

He refused to implement the corrupt liberal’s policies that they wanted. He either had to step aside or let the church be destroyed with all out prosecutions and destructive financial penalties for the church.

I really miss him. His message was always extremely clear and well-reasoned.
