My grandparents are Catholics as well, but they seem to be depending on salvation by grace instead of works.

There are some Catholics who want MORE than what Rome dishes out, and start reading and thinking on their own; coming more and more to a protestant-like understanding of the Scriptures.

They stay in the organization they grew up in because of various social factors; publicly going through the motions of CatholicISM, while inwardly trusting only in Jesus.
