The Roman Catholic requirement of celibacy of the priests is not a NT position.
It also gives excellent cover to those who are homosexual to be a priest...no explanation as to why you're not married!

I have known a few. I don’t know for sure, but maybe some of them saw married Christian pastors, who have successful ministries, and maybe they figured they could too. Who knows?
That’s the main reason I never had any desire to be a priest, even though my dad wanted me to be one. I wanted female companionship in my life, so it never appealed to me.
