The Hail Mary is not Biblically based. It cannot be defended using Scripture.

I noticed this assertion is not that the Hail Mary is unbiblical, but rather than it is not Biblically based.

However the Hail Mary, like the Our Father, are biblically based, being derived wholly (Our Father), or in large part (Hail Mary) from the scriptures.

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
