In a strongly worded address before the United Nations Wednesday, a Vatican spokesman denounced President Trumps threats against North Korea as deplorable.
Speaking in New York at the 10th Conference for the entry into force of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty, Archbishop Paul R. Gallagher, the Vaticans Secretary for Relations with States, noted that the rising tensions over North Koreas growing nuclear program are of special urgency, while sharply criticizing President Trumps handling of the situation.
The international community must respond by seeking to revive negotiations, Gallagher said. The threat or use of military force have no place in countering proliferation, and the threat or use of nuclear weapons in countering nuclear proliferation are deplorable.
The Archbishop went on to say that building up a strong militaryone or Mr. Trumps stated prioritiesis counterproductive and hearkens back to a Cold War mentality.
We must put behind us the nuclear threats, fear, military superiority, ideology, and unilateralism that drive proliferation and modernization efforts and are so reminiscent of the logic of the Cold War, Gallagher said, in evident reference to the American President.

Shut up and go bugger someone.
When are Catholics going to accept that this pope is evil.
Thus spake the Vatican heretic.
Same here. Born and raised Catholic, Catholic schools and all of that. Pope Francis is the Roger Goodell of the Catholic Church.
I suspect he is. I believe Obama is controlling the Vatican in the same ways he's controlling Merkel, Congress, Judges, and others. Blackmail... with the help of the NSA.
Because turning the other cheek worked wonders for Catholicism against Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union...
Kneel and beg Rocket Man to be good.
Appeasement and preemptive surrender always successfully alter the character of dictators.

I agree.
This Pope is more concerned about Social Engineering than anything and it’s good to see them stand up to him. Unfortunately, many Catholics will never hear about this.
Their was a time the Church spoke out against Communism. I know we listen to records describing the fate of priest in China. And they wonder why so many Catholics have left to join Evangelicals? They left for stronger medicine. IMHO they need to focus on the back log of “2000” cases, the orgy that occurred this summer at the Vatican, and a host of other ills that are imternal, not the status our defense that would save the world from this despot, no one else has the will, might, or balls to do it. We don’t need a stronger President, what the Vatican needs for leadership is, well, above my pay grade.....
The ImPopester can blow it out his cassock.
Personally, I hope the Pope joins John McCain soon at the right hand of their lord and master Satan...see how they like that...John and Francis can try to make themselves great again while burning in Hell.
The first time since 1333.....
Trump should get us out of the test ban treaty.
Equate a murderous regime with America. This Pope is dead to me. He is evil.
Pope Che is a communist liberation theology joke. The college of cardinals wanted to increase membership in the Catholic Church. The easiest way was to tap a communist socialist from Argentina to be the next pope.
Be still my heart.
I was really waiting for Archbishop Gallagher to give me a lecture on suicide by pacification and “dialogue” during a ticking time bomb.
Ah, Pope Fransoros speaks out his butt again.
Don't buy books from those chumps at Amazon, Macys is a lost memory, refuse to buy from those commies at Apple and Microsoft, and my kids just graduated from College and think I'm a Nazi for Trump.
I'm looking forward to spending more time at the local library for entertainment.
A lunatic is shooting missiles all over the place and setting off nuclear explosions while threatening the world.
But Trump is deplorable for calling the lunatic on it.
This is the logic in higher circles these days.
Virgin men in dresses should stick to Holy things and leave military matters for the men to take care of.
