NO ONE KNOWS THE DAY OR THE HOUR?
At the Time of the End, the wise shall understand. Dan 12:10
Understanding the expression "No man knows the day or hour" is not possible by simply taking the English translation literally, because in the book of Daniel and the Book of Revelation, we are given EXACT descriptions of timing, relative to KEY events - such as the shutting down of the altar sacrifices in Jerusalem at the MID-POINT of the 70th week. Dan 9:27
Jesus was asked, "When shall these things be?" Matt 24:3
His answer ties us in to a very specific event (The Abomination of Desolation) which can be measured on our calendars: "When you therefore shall see the Abomination Of Desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoever reads, let him understand:)..." Matt 24:15.
It is now clear that "no man knows the day or hour" does NOT mean "no man knows the day or hour" as we read it from a modern-day English perspective.
>From his book "Signs In the Heavens" by Avi Ben Mordechai, he devotes a chapter to explaining what "no man knows the day or hour" truly means from a rabbinical Hebraic perspective. It is a figure of speech.
. . . (lengthy article)
Once proclaimed, the Feast of Trumpets (RoshHaShanah) commenced. Until that public announcement by the Nassi, everyone had to wait before they could begin the observance of the festival. No one could begin the festival beforehand! Thus, we can more clearly see the analogy Jesus made with His words: "But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only" was in regards to this important festival of Rosh HaShanah.

I am no biblical scholar.
But I think a better way to look at is, “Man, you DON’T want to know the hour and the day. Just live like its soon, and be a good person.”
All of these people spending their time and energy trying to decipher something that was NOT code.
>>Pardon. May I be excused to go to the, uh, library?
There is false teaching going on here.<<
You couldn’t tell from the title what this thread was about? Seriously?
Did you forget to read verse 37?
The very next verse ties this one with the coming of the Son of Man.
This is not news. It belongs in the religion section
Time alone will tell whether your understanding is correct or not
I agree with that. My understanding the city would be destroyed which happened in 70AD and 135AD. My reading of Jeremiah 31 says after the Jews return the city will never be destroyed again. Thoughts?
Look ya noob....people are giving you well deserved direction
Follow it
So are you just being disruptive on purpose for the fun of it?
I don’t mind the mockers flaming me, but when they totally ignore good music like this, I have to say with my friend(?) proust, “Oy vey!”
“was Jewish” ... you mean “IS Jewish”? =)
Wow you seem a little angry
YOU are NOT my teacher or rabbi or pastor

No argument from me, there. These end-times threads generally end up here whether they are marked Religion or not. But I marked this one “News.” I understand your frustration and will be sure to mark it religion next time. Apologies extended.
Through the Holy Spirit, Jeremiah was able to see beyond the temporal and all the way to the New Jerusalem. Not every prophecy is literal.
Revelation 21
[ The New Heaven and Earth ] Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, ...
Amen, brother/sister; you summarized it beautifully.
We have been in “the last hour,” from the time of the first century until now. If every Christian lived as if it truly was “the last hour,” we would be prepared for the Lord’s return at any moment.
John 2:
18 Children, it is the last hour; and just as you heard that antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have appeared; from this we know that it is the last hour.
[Incidentally, from the time of the first century until now, never has there failed to be predictions of the Lord’s imminent return. Every predictor thought they had it right. The lesson is, live each hour as if it is the last. Anticipate the Lord’s return and be about His business. When He finds His servants occupied with carrying out His commands, He will commend them for all eternity.]
Could you remind me of #13 which was removed? If it got such a strong reaction, I’d like to know what prompted it.
You wrote it. Dont you remember what you said less than 60 seconds ago?
>>was Jewish ... you mean IS Jewish? =)<<
Great point!
Nope.
I don’t know when but I think they are tuning up the trumpet section of the heavenly orchestra.
