This can’t be right. I’ve had many FReepers tell me quite recently that nobody would worship the Virgin Mother, much less supplicate her deific deliverance.
Nobody’s worshipping her, or “supplicating her deific deliverance.”. They are asking for her prayers. Just as I might ask for my own Mom to pray for me.
These are called “ intercessory prayers”. We are all very much encouraged to pray for one another, because we love one another.
The whole ensemble of loving people praying for each other is called the “Communion of Saints.”
They lied.
They were lied to, and believed the lies, then repeat the lies they've been told.

No one “worships” the Blessed Mother. The Catholic bishops were not worshipping her. They were praying for Divine intercession.
