The Venezuelan Episcopal Conference (CEV) has publicly invoked the intercession of the Virgin Mary to free the nation “from the claws of communism,” in a clear reference to the regime of President Nicolás Maduro.

“Blessed Virgin, Mother of Coromoto, heavenly Patron of Venezuela, free our country from the claws of communism and socialism,” the CEV posted on Twitter this Sunday, complete with an image of Santa Maria and a Venezuelan flag.

I can see that you either don’t know, or don’t care, about the meaning of words

Call no man father...

'When I use a word,' Humpty Dumpty said, in a rather scornful tone,
' it means just what I choose it to mean, neither more nor less.'

'The question is,' said Alice, 'whether you can make words mean so many different things.'

'The question is,' said Humpty Dumpty, 'which is to be master - that's all.'

But getting back to the topic at hand,... maybe the Catholics in Venezuela turning to Mary in prayer, reciting the Rosary, going to mass and confession, doing public penance, maybe a victory here would go a long way to exemplify the power of prayer?

Remember Number 11!!!

Pray that Rosary HARDER!!!

She always points us to her Son as the Way the Truth and the Life.

Sure she does...

The 15 promises

(Given to St. Dominic and Blessed Alan de la Roche)

1 Whoever shall faithfully serve me by the recitation of the Rosary, shall receive powerful graces.
2. I promise my special protection and the greatest graces to all those who shall recite the Rosary.
3. The Rosary shall be a powerful armor against hell, it will destroy vice, decrease sin, and defeat heresies
4. It will cause virtue and good works to flourish; it will obtain for souls the abundant mercy of God; it will withdraw the hearts of people from the love of the world and its vanities, and will lift them to the desire of eternal things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means.
5. The soul which recommends itself to me by the recitation of the Rosary, shall not perish.
6. Whoever shall recite the Rosary devoutly, applying Himself to the consideration of its Sacred Mysteries shall never be conquered by misfortune. God will not chastise Him in His justice, he shall not perish by an unprovided death; if he be just, he shall remain in the grace of God, and become worthy of eternal life.
7. Whoever shall have a true devotion for the Rosary shall not die without the Sacraments of the Church.
8. Those who are faithful to recite the Rosary shall have during their life and at their death the light of God and the plentitude of His graces; at the moment of death they shall participate in the merits of the Saints in Paradise.
9. I  shall deliver from purgatory those who have been devoted to the Rosary.
10. The faithful children of the Rosary shall merit a high degree of glory in Heaven.
11. You shall obtain all you ask of me by the recitation of the Rosary.
12. All those who propagate the Holy Rosary shall be aided by me in their necessities.
13. I  have obtained from my Divine Son that all the advocates of the Rosary shall have for intercessors the entire celestial court during their life and at the hour of death
14. All who recite the Rosary are my children, and brothers and sisters of my only Son, Jesus Christ.
15. Devotion of my Rosary is a great sign of predestination.

"The Most Holy Virgin in these last times in which we live has given a new efficacy to the recitation of the Rosary to such an extent that there is no problem,

no matter how difficult it is, wheter temporal or above all spiritual, in the personal life of each one of us, of our families...that cannot be solved by the Rosary.

There is no problem, I tell you, no matter how difficult it is, that we cannot resolve by the prayer of the Holy Rosary."

It’s a good thing I looked it up. Posters weren’t exactly falling all over each other to explain it.

How many times do we have to mention “dulia”, “hyperdulia”, and “latria”, and how they are distinguished from each other?

The “echo” for me this morning is

Rev 3:15 I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I would that you were cold or hot.
Rev 3:16 So because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.

and

Deu 4:24 For Jehovah your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.

It is either worship or it is not in God’s view. Man likes to play in the gray area.

Can’t think of any “gray” areas in Gods perspective. We may be in one in our transition or God may turn us over to our own desires. Things are pretty black and white in Gods world.

Now the hard part, what gray areas am I playing in? Off to the corner to think...................................

I'm going to start calling YOU father.

The fact is, NOBODY in the NT would have agreed with your absurdly literal, private interpretation, which would foolishly forbid calling any man on earth a "father". That is foolish because you have no Biblical context. Many dozens of times in the New Testament men upon this earth are rightly called "father,"--- men who are being called this for symbolic, honorary or spiritual reasons, or as a term of respectful address, not necessarily just male parents --- and there is no offense given to anyone in heaven or on earth.

This is what God's Word says:

Acts 22:1
“Brothers and fathers, listen to the defense that I now make before you.” Romans 4:16 For this reason it depends on faith, in order that the promise may rest on grace and be guaranteed to all his descendants, not only to the adherents of the law but also to those who share the faith of Abraham (for he is the father of all of us,as it is written, “I have made you the father of many nations”)—

1 Corinthians 4:15
Indeed, in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel.

Ephesians 6:4
And, father, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

Philemon 1:10
I am appealing to you for my child, Onesimus, whose father I have become during my imprisonment.

1 John 2:13
I am writing to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning.

And not only that, but the Scripture you quoted also had Jesus saying "Call no man your master or your teacher." But I never hear a yelp about that from you or any of your esteemed --- hmmm, teachers --- so Humpty that.

The Church has always understood these uses of "father" as well as "master" and "teacher", to be proper. So, you might want to re-think your own personal interpretation, Fr. Elsie.

No grey in this at all!

5My soul, wait in silence for God only, For my hope is from Him.

6He only is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be shaken.

7On God my salvation and my glory rest; The rock of my strength, my refuge is in God.

8Trust in Him at all times, O people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.

Psalm 62:5-8 NASB

Glad to hear you agree.

In doing so there is no support for the Roman Catholic understanding of the terms.

“I just can’t go along with that Mary stuff. It’s painful to even read the Savior denigrated in favor of Mary.”

Mary is venerated because she was the Mother of Jesus Christ.

Veneration of Mary supports and reinforces love for Jesus Christ Our Savior.

It is not a case where you can only love one or the other.

It is not a case where you can only love Jesus if you hate and denigrate his mother.

When the disciples wanted to venerate humans, God himself set them straight.

Matthew 17

.
“1. And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,

2.And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.

3. And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.

4. Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles;
one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.

5. While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said,
This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

6. And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.

“They love “Mary” more than they love eternal life.”

So you are saying the only way to eternal life is to hate and denigrate the Blessed Mother.

You don’t understand what this passage meant.

It has nothing to do with the Blessed Mother.

The first commandment has nothing to do with the Blessed Mother.

You are trying to create a false dichotomy. You are saying that if you love Jesus you must not love the Blessed Mother.

That is simply stupid.

No one says The Blessed Mother is God.

No one says she should be worshiped as God.

Your arguments boil down to you can only love Jesus if you have no love for his mother.

I am certain that you feel you know more than Pope John Paul II about faith, spirituality and everything else. I am sure you feel you accomplished more than he ever did. But read Pope John Paul’s prayer.

The following is the Prayer of Consecration with which Pope John Paul II consecrated the world, inclusive of Russia, to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on March 25, 1984, in fulfillment of the Fatima request.

Pope John Paul II’s Consecration of the World to the Immaculate Heart

“We have recourse to your protection, holy Mother of God.”
As we utter the words of this antiphon with which the Church of Christ has prayed for centuries, we find ourselves today before you, Mother, in the Jubilee Year of the Redemption.

We find ourselves united with all the pastors of the Church in a particular bond whereby we constitute a body and a college, just as by Christ’s wish the Apostles constituted a body and college with Peter.

In the bond of this union, we utter the words of the present Act, in which we wish to include, once more, the Church’s hopes and anxieties for the modern world.

Forty years ago and again ten years later, your servant Pope Pius XII, having before his eyes the painful experiences of the human family, entrusted and consecrated to your Immaculate Heart the whole world, especially the peoples for which by reason of their situation you have particular love and solicitude.

This world of individuals and nations we too have before our eyes today: the world of the second millennium that is drawing to a close, the modern world, our world!
The Church, mindful of the Lord’s words: “Go… and make disciples of all nations… and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age” (Mt 28:19-20), has, at the Second Vatican Council, given fresh life to her awareness of her mission in this world.

And therefore, O Mother of individuals and peoples, you who know all their sufferings and their hopes, you who have a mother’s awareness of all the struggles between good and evil, between light and darkness, which afflict the modern world, accept the cry which we, moved by the Holy Spirit, address directly to your Heart. Embrace, with the love of the Mother and Handmaid of the Lord, this human world of ours, which we entrust and consecrate to you, for we are full of concern for the earthly and eternal destiny of individuals and peoples.

In a special way we entrust and consecrate to you those individuals and nations which particularly need to be thus entrusted and consecrated.

“We have recourse to your protection, holy Mother of God”: despise not our petitions in our necessities.
Behold, as we stand before you, Mother of Christ, before your Immaculate Heart, we desire, together with the whole Church, to unite ourselves with the consecration which, for love of us, your Son made of himself to the Father: “For their sake,” he said, “I consecrate myself that they also may be consecrated in the truth” (Jn 17:19). We wish to unite ourselves with our Redeemer in this his consecration for the world and for the human race, which, in his divine Heart, has the power to obtain pardon and to secure reparation.

The power of this consecration lasts for all time and embraces all individuals, peoples and nations. It overcomes every evil that the spirit of darkness is able to awaken, and has in fact awakened in our times, in the heart of man and in his history.

How deeply we feel the need for the consecration of humanity and the world—our modern world—in union with Christ himself! For the redeeming work of Christ must be shared in by the world through the Church.
The present year of the Redemption shows this: the special Jubilee of the whole Church.

Above all creatures, may you be blessed, you, the Handmaid of the Lord, who in the fullest way obeyed the divine call!
Hail to you, who are wholly united to the redeeming consecration of your Son!

Mother of the Church! Enlighten the People of God along the paths of faith, hope and love! Enlighten especially the peoples whose consecration and entrustment by us you are awaiting. Help us to live in the truth of the consecration of Christ for the entire human family of the modern world.
In entrusting to you, oh Mother, the world, all individuals and peoples, we also entrust to you this very consecration of the world, placing it in your motherly Heart.

Immaculate Heart! Help us to conquer the menace of evil, which so easily takes root in the hearts of the people of today, and whose immeasurable effects already weigh down upon our modern world and seem to block the paths towards the future!

From famine and war, deliver us.

From nuclear war, from incalculable self-destruction, from every kind of war, deliver us.

From sins against the life of man from its very beginning, deliver us.

From hatred and from the demeaning of the dignity of the children of God, deliver us.

From every kind of injustice in the life of society, both national and international, deliver us.

From readiness to trample on the commandments of God, deliver us.

From attempts to stifle in human hearts the very truth of God, deliver us.

From the loss of awareness of good and evil, deliver us.
From sins against the Holy Spirit, deliver us.

Accept, Oh Mother of Christ, this cry laden with the sufferings of all individual human beings, laden with the sufferings of whole societies.

Help us with the power of the Holy Spirit to conquer all sin: individual sin and the “sin of the world,” in all its manifestations.

Let there be revealed, once more, in the history of the world the infinite saving power of the Redemption: the power of merciful Love! May it put a stop to evil! May it transform consciences! May your Immaculate Heart reveal for all the light of Hope!

The opposite of veneration is not hatred and denigration. Some of us are simply striving to have the mind of Christ, as we’re commanded.

Matthew 12:

46 While He was still speaking to the crowds, behold, His mother and brothers were standing outside, seeking to speak to Him.

47 Someone said to Him, “Behold, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside seeking to speak to You.”

48 But Jesus answered the one who was telling Him and said, “Who is My mother and who are My brothers?”

49 And stretching out His hand toward His disciples, He said, “Behold My mother and My brothers!

50 For whoever does the will of My Father who is in heaven, he is My brother and sister and mother.”

Luke 11:

27 While Jesus was saying these things, one of the women in the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, “Blessed is the womb that bore You and the breasts at which You nursed.”

28 But He said, “On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it.”
