The spirit of lukewarmness is the state of the Laodician church (not people in the world; people in that church). The Lord says he will spew them out of his mouth.

Would you care to interpret that, please?

I suspect that the imagery here is one who has found out that the wrong; VERY wrong stuff has entered his body and he is doing all he can to get rid of it before he is harmed.
