Criminal investigators from the Internal Revenue Service and the U.S. Postal Service raided the Grapevine, Texas offices of televangelist Benny Hinn on Wednesday afternoon.

Hinn is famous for his stadium-filling “Miracle Crusades.” At these revival-style events, held worldwide, Hinn claims to use special, supernatural power to heal people suffering from terminal diseases and various handicaps.

Several IRS and Postal Service agents participated in the Wednesday raid.

The investigators entered Hinn’s offices, then left with boxes — and boxes, and boxes — of documents. The investigators then placed the boxes on trucks at the scene.

What a great site, and I learned of it on FR.

“Tim Tebow fly ball taken up to heaven”

“Church computer finally updated to Windows 98”

“Joel Osteen sees his own shadow, guaranteeing 6 more weeks of taking scripture out of context”

Hinn is a monumental scuz-ball, a con artist bound for a firey hereafter, and I’m glad he’s on the radar of the IRS.

BUT... doesn’t the Federal government have bigger fish to fry? Clintons. Soros. Lerner.

I pray it is not so. I have been so inspired by this holy man, I have contributed thousands of dollars to his wonderful Ministry over the years and I have filled my wardrobe with white suits just like his.

Wow, I had no idea that Hinn’s events were so entertaining! Who needs professional wrestling?

Apparently the IRS has.

I would prefer that “Christianity” police their own ranks, instead of the government.

Or stated anther way: Why this guy gets anywhere, astounds me.

If he lives in luxury, in part due to a religious exemption, I want it exposed.

Actually, he makes lots of his money from third world contributors. He travels to the poorest countries in Africa and India, and tells the people there that God will greatly bless them if they contribute to his ministry.

Hinn was investigated by the IRS in 2011, and was exonerated. They thought he was capitalizing and profiteering on resources from the ministry though and have kept an open book on him since.

But here’s a question, he was not an American citizen being born in Jaffa, Israel. He was married and the first investigation happened while he was divorced. He has since remarried her but marriage to an American citizen doesn’t automatically make you a citizen. It expedites it, but doesn’t confirm it. I’m not sure, but can a non-citizen be charged with and punished for not following the laws concerning tax evasion in the US? I’m not sure they can do anything to him other than deport him. And deporting an evangelist with his following could be politically punishing.

Saw a clip of him in India and they were complaining “all he wants is money”.

“Really? They have to RAID the place like storm troopers?
Why not just the standard audit???”

Don’t like it but know that the IRS has been after Hinn for years and this is NOT the first time they have come after him. This is the first time they came in like storm troopers. Makes me wonder why.

I've worked security at a couple of Promise Keeper events.

One time, I was stationed on the floor near the front of the stage.

Between speakers, a pastor came to the front with his group of people. Abot 2 dozen. They prayed and he laid hands on them and they all were "slain in the spirit".

I'm 54. Been a Christian since 5. Baptised at 20.
This doesn't make me great. Just stating I've been a follower of Christ for nearly 50 years.

I'm in a stadium of +50,000 people. MOST of them Christ followers. And I watch every single one of these people fall over themselves.

Nobody else in the stadium. Just the followers of this pastor.

Just like the followers of the Kiai "master", these people convince themselves that something is happening. They WANT so bad to have something magical happen in their lives. To prove to themselves, that they and their leader are true believers.

I've been to Baptist, Catholic, EV FRee, Methodist, Pentacostal, Bible and non denominational.

Never saw the "Holy Spirit" spontaneously break out, EXCEPT in the churches who PRACTICE it.

Do I believe it can happen?
Yes.
I don't believe it limits itself to just special groups, that display it more than others.

Here is used car salesman, Jesse Duplicitous.
One of the Benny Hinn ilk cabal.

http://www.heraldguide.com/details.php?id=7355

“It’s hard to miss the new two-story, 25-room house on the corner of River Road and Ormond Boulevard in Destrehan. But most people who drive by it don’t realize that they are helping to pay for it.
The house, which will serve as a church rectory, is the largest single-family home in the parish, according to the parish’s planning and zoning department, and it belongs to Jesse Duplantis Ministries, a religious entity headed by evangelical Christian minister Jesse Duplantis.
The first floor of the rectory has two bedrooms, 4 1/2 bathrooms, a kitchen, a dining room, a breakfast room and a parlor. The second floor has four bedrooms, three full bathrooms, two half bathrooms, a fun room and a theater.
Since the tax-exempt ministry owns the house, Duplantis will not have to pay the over $33,000 a year in taxes that the homeowner of a $3 million house would normally have to pay, according to Parish Assessor Clyde “Rock” Gisclair. The money donated to build the house will not be taxed either.
The Trinity Foundation, a religious watchdog organization, has been monitoring Duplantis for over 10 years.
Trinity Foundation President Ole Anthony said that members of Duplantis’ congregation are not the only ones paying for the house.
According to Anthony, every person in St. Charles Parish is helping to pay for Duplantis’ extravagant lifestyle.
Assessor Gisclair said that whereas most homeowners qualify for a tax exemption, Duplantis will qualify for far more exemptions and will not be paying taxes at all. Therefore tax payers will be footing the bill.”

“Besides the almost 35,000-square-foot house, Jesse Duplantis Ministries also owns a private plane. Fox 8 News in New Orleans got a copy of the flight records and said that Duplantis has taken nearly 2,500 trips on the plane since buying it in 2000. The trips include two recent flights to Hawaii and 11 visits to Las Vegas.”

Hinn like many other televangelists and self appointed pastors (Joel Osteen et al) are frauds and scam artists who should have been locked up long ago. Religion is simply a way to enrich themselves and their families.

...along with using that money to get Paula White to blow him in Rome.

Maybe corrected himself, but should retire from preaching because the money and antics are ripe for honest ridicule.
