“James was writing of “any of you.”

Finish the sentence “any of you who does what?”
Strays from the truth...

This is Christianity
1 Peter 1:4-5
4 to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Unfortunately this is catholicism

2 Timothy 3:5
5 holding to a form of [a]godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these.

Footnotes:

2 Timothy 3:5 Or religion

“Blessed Mary is not in the verse.”

10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.
Sorry, but she and everyone else is in that “we” word.

“That does not agree with what He said to the churches through the Spirit.”

Just as James was saying in his book they have strayed from the truth and are in danger. He hasn’t removed their light yet, but if they continue on the path and don’t repent He will remove it.
I would suggest if you really want to study the seven churches start at Rev 2 the church of Thyatira it gives a detailed account of the church of rome and how she will fall staight into Hell since she won’t repent.

A brother errs, wanders from the truth, and commits serious sin. If someone should bring him back he saves the soul of that brother from death and covers a multitude of sins.

Sorry, but she and everyone else is in that “we” word.

Really ? Are you quite certain ? "Everyone else" would include the man Jesus. Do you allow that exception and confess him fully human and tempted like "everyone else," yet without sin ?

Yet making that argument with respect to blessed Mary concedes the point about "everyone else" and implies they were (being) saved. Returning to the point conceded; the brother who errs is subject to spiritual (soul) death, and turning one back from that error saves his soul from death and covers a multitude of sins.

Not only remove it, but those who do not repent and overcome. Revelation has the last words to us from the LORD Jesus Christ. They are very to the point about sin, repentance, and works. They apply to everyone else and not just those seven churches of the one holy catholic church extant at that time.
