Theologian: Shared Communion With Protestants Would be Blasphemy and Sacrilege
National Catholic Register ^ | January 2, 2017 | Edward Pentin

Posted on 01/02/2017 4:25:11 AM PST by BlessedBeGod

...If the Church were to change its rules on shared Eucharistic Communion it would “go against Revelation and the Magisterium”, leading Christians to “commit blasphemy and sacrilege,” an Italian theologian has warned.

Drawing on the Church’s teaching based on Sacred Scripture and Tradition, Msgr. Nicola Bux, a former consulter to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, stressed that non-Catholic Christians must have undertaken baptism and confirmation in the Catholic Church, and repented of grave sin through sacramental confession, in order to be able to receive Jesus in the Eucharist.

Msgr. Bux was responding to the Register about concerns that elements of the current pontificate might be sympathetic of a form of “open Communion” proposed by the German Protestant theologian, Jürgen Moltmann.

The concerns have arisen primarily due to the Holy Father’s own comments on Holy Communion and Lutherans, his apparent support for some remarried divorcees to receive Holy Communion, and how others have used his frequently repeated maxim about the Eucharist: that it is “not a prize for the perfect, but a powerful medicine and nourishment for the weak.”

The debate specifically over intercommunion with Christian denominations follows recent remarks by Cardinal Walter Kasper who, in a Dec. 10 interview with Avvenire, said he hopes Pope Francis’ next declaration will open the way for intercommunion with other denominations “in special cases.”

The German theologian said shared Eucharistic communion is just a matter of time, and that the Pope’s recent participation in the Reformation commemoration in Lund has given “a new thrust” to the “ecumenical process.”

Pope Francis has often expressed his admiration for Cardinal Kasper’s theology whose thinking has significantly influenced…the priorities of this pontificate, particularly on the Eucharist.

For Moltmann, Holy Communion is “the Lord's supper, not something organized by a church or a denomination”...

He was neither. Actually, He was Jewish. Still is. Only a Jew could be the Messiah. The Pharisees didn’t hate him because He wasn’t Jewish. They’re eyes were blinded. They hated Him because He made Himself equal to God. They conveniently forgot all the OT prophecies concerning Him. He revealed their hypocrisy, and they hated Him for that, too. But, it was God’s plan before the foundation of the world, that he should be crucified, that they should reject Him, and He take away our sins. “The son of man must go as has been determined, but woe unto that one by whom He is betrayed” Like 22:22. All the apostles were Jews. It was not until God revealed it to Peter, well AFTER Jesus ascended, that gentiles could be in the Body of Christ. Before that, the apostles all believed that Jesus was sent for the Jews, only. Jesus, Himself, said he was sent to the lost sheep of Israel. But even then, He would occasionally minister to gentiles, before He ascended. The Catholic Church believed and taught for centuries, that Jews were cursed, as “Christ Killers”. It was absolutely imperative that the Jews be responsible for sending Jesus to the cross. He didn’t condemn them for it, save the one who betrayed Him, Judas Iscariot. Since all the apostles were Jews, it would have been pretty strange if He had condemned Jews.

” Is that official church teaching or your opinion?

If it’s official church teaching, please cite it. “

One pope is not permitted to change the doctrine declared by another.

By decree of Pope Saint Pius V:

Pope St. Pius V, to protect the Roman Rite from innovations and eliminate any variations, codified the Traditional Latin Mass in the Apostolic Constitution Quo Primum in 1570. The Mass that he was confirming was not some new creation like the Novus Ordo Missae, but a Mass that matched in every respect the Faith of the Apostles. Nor was it the Mass of some particular area of the Church like the Eastern rites, but the universal rite of the Church, the rite of the Roman See. His bull says in part:

“We specifically command each and every patriarch, administrator, and all other persons or whatever ecclesiastical dignity they may be, be they even cardinals of the Holy Roman Church, or possessed of any other rank or pre-eminence, and We order them in virtue of holy obedience to chant or to read the Mass according to the rite and manner and norm herewith laid down by Us and, hereafter, to discontinue and completely discard all other rubrics and rites of other missals, however ancient, which they have customarily followed; and they must not in celebrating Mass presume to introduce any ceremonies or recite any prayers other than those contained in this Missal.

“Furthermore, by these presents [this law], in virtue of Our Apostolic authority, We grant and concede in perpetuity that, for the chanting or reading of the Mass in any church whatsoever, this Missal is hereafter to be followed absolutely, without any scruple of conscience or fear of incurring any penalty, judgment, or censure, and may freely and lawfully be used. Nor are superiors, administrators, canons, chaplains, and other secular priests, or religious, of whatever title designated, obliged to celebrate the Mass otherwise than as enjoined by Us. We likewise declare and ordain . . . that this present document cannot be revoked or modified, but remain always valid and retain its full force . . . [The complete Apostolic Constitution “Quo Primum” of Pope St. Pius V (July 14, 1570) is available in print from Angelus Press or online].

In the false council of the 60’s the false pope presumed to change the doctrine involved in the Mass. That makes him a false pope.

Amen! There is NOTHING like the Word of God! It speaks for itself. All churches have doctrine, but only doctrine that is SCRIPTURAL is TRUE doctrine. I’m partial to my denomination (but do not exclude other Biblical denominations), because our guiding principle, to answer any questions or concerns, is, “What does the Bible say?” I appreciate that so much.

In fact we haven’t had a true pope since A.D. 1958.

Wow!

Quite a judgement.

What; in your opinion; defines a 'true' pope?

Way to avoid scripture.

Mark 7:13

“Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition,
which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.”

Perhaps Saint Paul who allowed for himself and others to be called “father”,

Perhaps?

Perhaps you FAIL to show any scripture where anyone actually DOES call him "father".

You could also ask FR poster “ealgeone” who calls the early church fathers the ECF’s. Does he have a problem with early church fathers being called so without condemning its use?

Fight your own battle.

In Christ Jesus thousands of Catholic Priests became the father of millions through the gospel.

There goes that celibacy thing Rome has placed on it's troopers.

The more glory Mary receives, the more glory Jesus receives.

If anything to ignore Mary’s prominence is more at blaspheming Jesus.

Isaiah 42:8

"I am the LORD; that is my name! I will not give my glory to anyone else, nor share my praise with carved idols.

Oh; she's GOT it all right; but it SURE is NOT found anywhere in Scripture like THIS!!!

But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship.

The so-called “Vatican II” was a council sadly held by apostates.

So judgemental!

Why do you think GOD allowed such a thing to happen??

I wonder which one of the variants and at what point in their respective histories, they were the OTC.

It obvious from Scripture!

Right before those 7 CATHOLIC churches were glorified in Revelation chapters 1 thru 3!!

By what authority or whose authority do you presume to sit in judgment of your church's leadership and the decisions they make?

Really?

It comes with the territory!

Therefore, if anyone says that it is not by the institution of Christ the lord himself (that is to say, by divine law) that blessed Peter should have perpetual successors in the primacy over the whole Church; or that the Roman Pontiff is not the successor of blessed Peter in this primacy: let him be anathema.

#248 The ECFs are just as divided on the Eucharist as they are on the other topics.

The question I asked before: what's wrong with the Eucharist?

Uh...

You are trying to AVOID the FACT that the ECFs disagreed with each other; and was posted quite visibly in this thread.

I'll not waste MY time while you avoiding dealing with the TRUTH of the matter.
