My problem with the SoT is that -- so far --no competent group of scientific authorities have produced any reports actually tying it to the timeframe of the resurrection and transformation of Christ. There are interesting bits and pieces -- but there is a huge mountain of conflicting flummery and misinformation.
My problem with the premise of this thread is the imbecilic leap of "VOILA!" logic connecting those supposed magnetic anomalies in a piece of stone to the plausible effect (at the far, opposite end of the elecromagnetic energy spectrum) that could have involved sufficient, instant energy release to have formed the "flash-sublimation transfer" image on the shroud.
The statement in the article was one of (misplaced) faith multiplied by scientific ignorance -- NOT any evidence of scientific relationship -- much less correlation.
Bottom line: Stupid, ignorant, pseudoscientific article.
Oh right, sorry, you were reacting to the article.
I agree: a mere magnetic anomaly is hardly a compelling argument.
