What about near death experiences?
There was a painting by an artist of African American heritage that is in the city of Philadelphia of the visit to Mary by Gabriel.
This opinion of yours, I think, diverges from Biblical imagery, considering that the Son of Man is visibly seen by the prophets as being resplendently vested: in Daniel, in Ezekiel if my memory serves me well, and especially in Revelation.
Keep in mind that the priestly vestments of the OT were specifically mandated by Almighty God in the Torah, and in exacting detail, too. If Christ is our Great High Priest (Hebrews 4:14-16, 9:12)it is appropriate to portray Him vested as such. This shows His unique priesthood in the New Testament, as prophesied and foreshadowed by the figures of the Old.
This was a god answer on images, Campion.
My favorite thing to tell people .. Jesus was strong and committed to serving GOD; he likewise chastised those in the Temple for cheapening the worship of GOD by exchanging money.
There's a poem by --I think --- Denise Levertov, which has stuck with me all my life, I mean over 50 years, since I read it as a teenager. I've never been able to find it again. If any FReeper poets recognize it, please let me know if Levertov is indeed the author (or was it Barbara Deming?) and/or where I can locate it.
This is from my (faulty) memory:

"Am I a god at hand?" - Jeremiah
Pray for us.
Living and true,
God is each day a new
God,
Abides in us,
But hides from us
Who it is He Is.
Pray for us.
He awaits us in unheard-of places,
With His despaired-of graces.

There is a striking note to the OT dress and it is that ‘blue’ was a color worn by the priests in the OT.
Blue was the color to remind Israel of His Commandments.
no blue in Revelation when describing the clothes of the ‘woman’ in Rev 17..not an accident.
that fits with Revelation 13 and the breaking of His Commandments.
and in Revelation 14 when the patience of the saints is the keeping of the Commandments of God and faith of Jesus.
That should help to test and prove who might be blue and who might be blueless in the end times..

You might be surprised how many “Italians” are actually of Jewish, or Hebrew descent.
The Giordanos are Danites, and most Italian names that end in “o” (like Romano) are actually crypto-Jewish.
My mother’s family falls into both of those categories.

The picture of Mary here is supposed to be a photoimage. Look at her eyes. They are nearly closed and swolen. In one there is a reflection. This is the best picture to date of anyone of the holy family. Look at how thin and pointed her fingers are - almost nonhuman. The virgin birth of Mary is celebrated Dec 8 on the feast of the immaculate conception - of Mary.
Mary's face looks like something undead - puffy - like crying or ill.
Mary ascended to heaven - heretic christians deny the ultimate divinity of christ and the ascension of Mary so they don't take her image seriously. But it is here for all to see and Jesus might have resembled her.
Interesting. I did not know that.

The yellow mustard plant grows to a height of about 15’ if left unchecked.
The parable of the mustard seed is about grossly false teachings.

Good Msgr Pope ping.
But red hair is not the same in all cultures.
In the Hispanic culture a *redhead* is someone who has red highlights in their hair, almost an auburn rather than black.
It’s not red as in Irish type of red.
After He saw what was going on and deliberately when out and made Himself a whip.
That was not spur of the moment, acting in the heat of passion.
It was premeditated at the least.
I can just imagine the disciples as they watched that scenario unfold, as they saw the anger rise in Him and He stalked away. They must have been wondering what He was up to and watched in awe as the whole thing unfolded.
Msgr. Pope is ALWAYS a good read, but he especially showed his genius in this article.
Thank you for posting...
What about them? They mean nothing as they are proof of nothing.
The Word of God trumps experience no matter how real it seems.
If it doesn't line up with Scripture, it's from the enemy.
Yes, the OLD TESTAMENT.
There is no order of priesthood assigned to or for believers in the NT and there is no instruction about dress.
Jesus is our great high priest and HE is all we need.
It's hard to figure a percentage, but if I had to guess, I would say about 5% or less, go to Heaven, and 95% or more, go to Hell. Heaven is going to be exclusive, and I can't figure out what's wrong with the 95%. I just don't understand why it is that way, but it is.
