Papal elections are guided by the Holy Spirit. That doesn’t mean that the electors listened. That is two contradictory statements. IF they are "guided by" then that means they listened.

Not necessarily. I can be guided by the Holy Spirit and choose not to follow Him. Every single elector has free will.
