Evangelicals Didnt Even Study for This Test
...this year, LifeWay used more stringent criteria for evangelical faith, as defined by some group called the National Association of Evangelicals. Only participants who called the Bible their highest authority, said personal evangelism is important, and indicated that trusting in Jesus death on the cross is the only way of salvation, were labeled evangelical. They totaled 586 survey-takers.
Everyone expected them to perform better than most Americans. No one expected them to perform worse. Seven in ten evangelicalsmore than the population at largesaid that Jesus was the first being God created. Fifty-six percent agreed that the Holy Spirit is a divine force but not a personal being. They also saw a huge increase in evangelicals (28 percent, up from 9 percent) who indicated that the Third Person of the Trinity is not equal with God the Father or Jesus, a direct contradiction of orthodox Christianity.
As before, its really the contradictory answers, not the outright heresies, that should most concern us. By definition, the evangelicals in this survey believed that only those who trust in Jesus Christ alone as their Savior receive Gods free gift of eternal salvation. Yet nearly half agreed that God accepts the worship of all religions including Christianity, Judaism, and Islam.
Former Newsday religion reporter Kenneth Briggs recently told Religion News Service that the faith he finds in mega-type churches is a Bible-less, alternative version of Christianity. Scripture, he says, has become a museum exhibit, hallowed as a treasure but enigmatic and untouched.

(But again the fact that they had to make the changes, tells me were not dealing with people who were truly serious or really cared about God’s word in the first place.
Do you get the point?
But your point escapes me, please explain.
The problem is these “scholars” didn’t just update the LANGUAGE. Wherever the KJV said things they didn’t approve of, all the NWO bible translators change the meaning of the text. They did this by adding to or deleting from the preserved word.
I find the following in searching for the words lord, Lord, and LORD.
Modern King James - 1,360 times
KG 7,970 times
New King James - 7,914
New Living Translation - 7,920
One can major in minors and minor in majors. Yes there is a difference. Your number of times argument is meaningless.
So the question is why?
God has many names. There is even a difference between, lord, Lord, LORD and LORD,LORD. There is great flavor in the differences, each revealing different attributes about God.
Here is the Lord, Lord, which is worth of thinking? Why twice?
Mat_7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Mat_7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
I am still chewing on “whose very name is Jealous”. Now that is something to think about and read the Bible.
Exo 34:14 You must worship no other gods, for the LORD, whose very name is Jealous, is a God who is jealous about His relationship with you.
Regarding the Message. I don’t agree with it either but have to trust that whenever Jesus name is used even if wrongly, he can use it for his purposes. I can’t think of the verse off hand, maybe you can help me.
Again, thank you for the morning edification.
But your point escapes me, please explain.
God used a process to reveal his Word. He corrected translations because he is a Living God. Some of the newer translations are better, because of better research. Note I said some.
He could have done like the tablets but He is a creative God and did it this way. He reveals more to us as individuals each day.
God is a God of process as well as product.
“Work out your Salvation with fear and trembling.”
The above assumes you already have your salvation, not that you have to work to get it.
Again, thank you for the edification.
Perhaps to you, but I'm pretty sure God has a different point of view.
Revelation 22:19
And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
You just keep on believing that God could care less about His word, but I would hate to be around you, when you find out he does.
Really, I thought Paul was changed instantly, from a lost person to a saved person, when the Lord met him on the road to Damascus. Can you show me a verse, where God used a long drawn out process to reveal Himself to Paul?
Hell vs hades
My bifocals have been telling of NLT instead of NIV in my discussion with you. I will have to purchase the NIV.
My first thought for you is not focusing on the FACT that they are different but reflecting on WHY they are different. The richness of God’s word comes out in the discovery process.
Greek was a NT language so it would not surprise me that a Greek word would be used. But how is the word used? Does the NIV use it in the same context as the whole Bible?
I have had discussion on FR with “Christians” who are convinced there is no hell. You simple die and that is the end of that. The OT just says people die. So their options are you simply cease to exist or you have eternal life with God.
The Bible does not say what we think it says and it says a lot that offends our ears.........................
I've been very upfront on this thread as to why I believe they are different. It comes down to Satan, accomplishing one of the five "I wills."
Isaiah 14:13
For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. 15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
Today, we have "christian pastors" in churches who, promote witchcraft, sodomy, New age, sexual immorality, and a whole host of other worldly practices, and their congregations have no problem with it.
The way Satan was able to get his seat upon the mount of the congregation, was to first remove God's preserved word, the KJV, and then replace it with his pre-versions of the word of God.

Here’s some background on the NIV from biblegateway.com
https://www.biblegateway.com/versions/New-International-Version-NIV-Bible/#vinfo
The New International Version (NIV) is a completely original translation of the Bible developed by more than one hundred scholars working from the best available Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek texts.
The initial vision for the project was provided by a single individual an engineer working with General Electric in Seattle by the name of Howard Long. Long was a lifelong devotee of the King James Version, but when he shared it with his friends he was distressed to find that it just didnt connect. Long saw the need for a translation that captured the truths he loved in the language that his contemporaries spoke.
For 10 years, Long and a growing group of like-minded supporters drove this idea. The passion of one man became the passion of a church, and ultimately the passion of a whole group of denominations. And finally, in 1965, after several years of preparatory study, a trans-denominational and international group of scholars met in Palos Heights, Illinois, and agreed to begin work on the project determining to not simply adapt an existing English version of the Bible but to start from scratch with the best available manuscripts in the original languages. Their conclusion was endorsed by a large number of church leaders who met in Chicago in 1966.
A self-governing body of fifteen biblical scholars, the Committee on Bible Translation (CBT) was formed and charged with responsibility for the version, and in 1968 the New York Bible Society (which subsequently became the International Bible Society and then Biblica) generously undertook the financial sponsorship of the project. The translation of each book was assigned to translation teams, each made up of two lead translators, two translation consultants, and a stylistic consultant where necessary. The initial translations produced by these teams were carefully scrutinized and revised by intermediate editorial committees of five biblical scholars to check them against the source texts and assess them for comprehensibility. Each edited text was then submitted to a general committee of eight to twelve members before being distributed to selected outside critics and to all members of the CBT in preparation for a final review. Samples of the translation were tested for clarity and ease of reading with pastors, students, scholars, and lay people across the full breadth of the intended audience. Perhaps no other translation has undergone a more thorough process of review and revision. From the very start, the NIV sought to bring modern Bible readers as close as possible to the experience of the very first Bible readers: providing the best possible blend of transparency to the original documents and comprehension of the original meaning in every verse. With this clarity of focus, however, came the realization that the work of translating the NIV would never be truly complete. As new discoveries were made about the biblical world and its languages, and as the norms of English usage developed and changed over time, the NIV would also need to change to hold true to its original vision.
And so in the original NIV charter, provision was made not just to issue periodic updates to the text but also to create a mechanism for constant monitoring of changes in biblical scholarship and English usage. The CBT was charged to meet every year to review, maintain, and strengthen the NIVs ability to accurately and faithfully render Gods unchanging Word in modern English.
The 2011 update to the NIV is the latest fruit of this process. By working with input from pastors and Bible scholars, by grappling with the latest discoveries about biblical languages and the biblical world, and by using cutting-edge research on English usage, the Committee on Bible Translation has updated the text to ensure that the New International Version of the Bible remains faithful to Howard Longs original inspiration.
Because many people here could care less, that it's been done to God's Holy Word
If fine with me and since reading through the Douay Rheims side by side with the KJV I'll stick with that or even,
Hosea 11:12 Ephraim has encompassed me with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit; but Judah is still known by God, and is faithful to the Holy One.
from the RSV instead of the KJV.
KJV
Hosea 11:12
Ephraim compasseth me about with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit: but Judah yet ruleth with God, and is faithful with the saints.
Osee 11:12
Ephraim hath compassed me about with denials, and the house of Israel with deceit : but Juda went down as a witness with God, and is faithful with the saints.
Lie - (a false statement made with deliberate intent to deceive; an intentional untruth; a falsehood.)
Denials - (an assertion that something said, believed, alleged, etc., is false:)" the D R version could lead you to believe that God is accusing wicked Ephraim of something they did not do, in other words making God the liar, planting that little, tiny seed of doubt, in your mind, very, what's the word? Oh yeah, SUBTIL.
Instead of what the KJV plainly says, that Ephraim was flat out lying about their wickedness.
KJV
Hosea 11:12
Ephraim compasseth me about with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit: but Judah yet ruleth with God, and is faithful with the saints.
Compass - (the limits of any area;), God has a limit on just how much wickedness/deception He will put up with.
RSV
Hosea 11:12
Ephraim has encompassed me with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit; but Judah is still known by God, and is faithful to the Holy One.
Encompass - (form a circle about, encircle, surround)The meaning suggests you can surround God, with lies, and who knows maybe if you surround Him with enough lies, maybe you can get away with it.
Now, I'm sure you will say, "Well, you're just splitting hairs," the problem with that view is that if you multiply the changes made by the NWO bible translators, thousands of times, you'll be left with no solid doctrine at all on which to stand.
And that is exactly what the NWO wants for you. No protection at all from the anti-christ, and his flood of evil that's going to come upon the earth someday.
Pray for Bible Revival in the Church Houses.
The KJV isn't even the complete Bible, in fact.
But you keep tryin'. Maybe one of these days the Lord will break through your personal preconceptions and you'll find the Jesus Christ there waiting for you.
I pray that will happen for you and others around here who have eaten the same Self and Self Alone fruit Eve found so attractive.
have thy self a lovely day
Sad!
What preconceptions do you refer to? The definitions of English words.
Rather than repeat what you can go back and read in my comments, I'll just say that not only has your choice to throw part of the Old Testament in the garbage then proclaim how much more righteous you are than others for preferring one English language translation of the Luther Subset of The Bible made you a heretic for embracing the same Self and Self Alone lie Eve embraced.
In addition, you obviously don't understand that if two translations from the original languages to English convey the exact same meaning that they're functionally identical (i.e. both true to the Holy Word of God) no matter which you personally prefer.
Furthermore, your doing exactly what the DNC and folks like Hillary have spent decades doing, that is, attacking (and even infiltrating) the One True Church, shows that your preconception of what Christ accomplished on earth and left for us is far more important to you than what Christ said he was doing for us and leaving us.
As I said, have thy self a lovely day
Here are three translations of John 7:8.
KJV, RSV and Douay-Rheims.
KJV
John 7:8
Go ye up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast; for my time is not yet full come.
RSV
John 5:7
Go to the feast yourselves; I am not going up to this feast, for my time has not yet fully come."
Douay-Rheims
John 5:7
Go you up to this festival day, but I go not up to this festival day: because my time is not accomplished.
Now a first glance there doesn't seem to be to much difference, but take a closer look. YOUR translations leave out one small word, and that one small word makes Jesus Christ a full blown LIAR. That word is 'yet'
Because two verses later Jesus goes up to the feast.
KJV
9 When he had said these words unto them, he abode still in Galilee.
10 But when his brethren were gone up, then went he also up unto the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret.
RSV
9 So saying, he remained in Galilee.
10 But after his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he also went up, not publicly but in private
DR
9 When he had said these things, he himself stayed in Galilee.
10 But after his brethren were gone up, then he also went up to the feast, not openly, but, as it were, in secret.
Now, if we were to read only your translations, we would walk away thinking, "It must be ok to lie, Jesus lied to His brothers, He told them He was not going to go to the feast, but then He went.
Now is this my preconceptions? Or are you beginning to see, how the NWO goes about to deceive you, and is leading you, and millions like you, as lambs to the slaughter?
Thank you for such fine confirmation of what I said in my first sentence.
Your welcome, glad I could be of service to you.
