I have been thinking, as I always do, what is God up to? I know that God will do what He will do and use whom He will use. Just thinking, in terms of prophecy, because I think we are closing in, what would be the purpose of a Trump presidency? How does it fit if the Ezekiel 38 war is on the horizon. I can see a Clinton presidency to be more plausible from a pure standpoint of where I think we are headed. But, hey God is God and I am not. Anyone elses thought? Just looking for a thoughtful discussion. No actual definite prognostication.
God helps those who help themselves.
The phrase is often mistaken as a scriptural quote, but is not stated verbatim in the Bible. However, there are many verses which underscore believers’ duties to work both for themselves and their families, such as Proverbs 6:10-11, 12:11, 12:24, 13:4, and I Timothy 5:8.
Close enough.
2 Thessalonians 3:6
Warning Against Idleness
(Including during political campaigns)
6 In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers and sisters, to keep away from every believer who is idle and disruptive and does not live according to the teaching[a] you received from us. 7 For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We were not idle when we were with you, 8 nor did we eat anyones food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you. 9 We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to offer ourselves as a model for you to imitate. 10 For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.
11 We hear that some among you are idle and disruptive. They are not busy; they are busybodies. 12 Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the food they eat.
Don’t bother even thinking about it.
Neither major party candidate gives evidence of salvation.
America has not repented like Nineveh did.
I had a chat with my mother on this today.
Drawing parallels from the Bible and putting it into today’s context is fruitless. When the Bible says Israel, it means Israel.
That is unless God decides he needs to weaken physically so he can strengthen spiritually to bring more glory to Him like He did with Gideons forces.
Only God knows. Trust God or he will force you to plead for faith.
Okay nevermind I think all of you missed my point....
Neither major party candidate gives evidence of salvation.
God works in mysterious ways...
Eh maybe you ought to rethink this...

The book of 2 Timothy would more apt for what we face.
The USA is not even mentioned in prophecy. It is irrelevant whether that means the USA reverts to an extreme islolationism, is reduced to a minor/handicapped player, or is outright destroyed somehow. If you’re interested in prophecy, you need to focus on the countries that are mentioned specifically in prophecy.
FYI, I’ve always been interested in prophecy. My reading convinced me that the Beast would be the EU (a revived Roman Empire) and that the False Prophet would be the Pope (forgive me Catholic brothers, but back in those days Catholicism was the only world-wide organized religion that fit the bill).
Some years ago, with the surge of Islamism, I came to believe that the False Prophet would be an Islamist. But how did that fit with an EU Beast?
Well, now with massive Islamist immigration into Europe, it could be that the Beast will still be the EU after all, but with an Islamic False Prophet.
I throw it out there for discussion, with no claims to be a theologian, but with interest in others’ views on end-time prophecy.
Okay clearly I did not articulate my inquiry in a manner in which it was swirling in my head. I am not talking about America in prophecy, the beast , any of that. I guess I see the world careening quickly to the beginning of the end and I can envision how a Clinton presidency could easily play into that narrative. A Trump presidency makes me scratch my head as it would seem God would be slowing things down. But maybe not???? Listen I will be at peace no matter what happens. I was just wondering what people had going through their mind. ?Not looking for “answers” (Jesus IS my answer) or prognostications. Just curious. Thats it
>> Neither major party candidate gives evidence of salvation.
Have you been deputized to make that call?
Go Trump!
Maybe He’s giving us an out like he did Ninevah.
Maybe. i think that if he wins though that it will be a sigh of relief and people will go back to sleep. Just thoughts
Sorry for not picking up on that.
In answer to your question, God is not going to speed things up or slow things down no matter who wins the US presidency in November. His timetable is already established.
There is great comfort in that if Jesus is your answer, since we know He is in complete control. But there is also anxiety, because His plan might not be our plan, and He never promised we would be free of trials and tribulation. To the contrary....
So, we do what we can in our capacity, and leave the rest to Him.
For me, the frustrating thing with God is, He doesn’t give a lot of answers. He is really big on faith and on our developing an unwavering trust in His provision regardless of circumstances. And, with the way things are going in this country in recent years, He’s obviously really trying to grow our faith and trust in Him.
If they aren’t waking up now, they’ll never wake up.
Maybe we have just enough believers left.
I know on the whole, Americans might seem lost, but there could be enough of us praying everyday to scrape together what’s left and rebuild.
Either way, God has still got this.
We have to give it to Him.
What else can we do?
Voting and calling our so-called representatives hasn’t worked in ages.
Maybe we should have been praying first. I haven’t been very good about faithfully praying-I’m thankful for what I have and don’t want to bug Him about every little thing.
I sure am praying now though.
Maybe all the awfulness is being used to slap us awake and get us on our knees where we belong?
I’m no bible expert or theologian-just thinking out loud here.
The result is the same.
There will be no slowing down.
We are headed for judgement.
Well, most of us agree that a Hillary win is the final nail in America’s coffin. Conversely, a Trump win buys We the People additional time to take this country back.
I would say Hillary as POTUS = God’s judgement.
A Trump presidency = God’s mercy. And the time given to us so we can do what we should have done years ago (as a result of a President Trump) = God’s grace.
I personally think enough of America has been on their knees before God for so long that He will grant us this one more chance.
My concern is that after Trump is elected, too many of us will sit back, relax, and behave as if the heavy lifting is done. Fact is that is when the real battle begins.
“...False Prophet would be the Pope (forgive me Catholic brothers,...”
No offense taken. Our High Priest is Jesus the Christ Himself, not a man.
And whether or not you’re correct, we know certain things must come to pass before the return of Jesus.
