Update: Surgery began around noon. Doc said it went well. His wife was allowed to see him in recovery around 4:45. He is still in a lot of pain(at 5 PM, Eastern), but they are trying to relieve that.

Son is in pain but progressing. Chatted with him through text last night and this morning. (Throat is too sore for phone conversation.) He hopes to be discharged on Saturday.
