Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem
In this familiar chapter, the Apostle John faithfully records the words of his Master, and, in doing so, expresses profound Theology which has been depicted in song, art, stained glass, sermons, and commentaries for two millenia. John also explores a paradox which is one of many in the Gospels. Not only is Jesus the Good Shepherd, He is also the Gate to the Sheepfold, the Door to Salvation, and the Lamb of God.
The Image of God as a Shepherd goes back to King David, who was both Shepherd and King. Some of the other paradoxes that we will see are:
Shepherd/Lamb
High Priest/Sacrificial Victim
King/Servant
Son of God/Son of Man.
For a Galilean Fisherman, John is amazing writer, exploring incredible theological concepts.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.
