The Presbyterian Church, U.S.A. is raising eyebrows after lifting up prayers to Allah at its General Assembly meeting last week.
"Allah bless us and bless our families and bless our Lord. Lead us on the straight path - the path of all prophets: Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad."
These were the words that rang out over the congregation at The General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church, USA meeting in Portland, Oregon. Wajidi Said, co-founder of the Muslim Education Trust, led the attendees in the prayer to the Islamic deity - a move arranged by the Ecumenical and Interfaith ministry staff at the assembly.
The prayer was part of the "first order of business" during the meeting's opening session, a time dedicated to praying for those affected by the Orlando shooting that occured just weeks before.
"In the name of Allah, the beneficent, the merciful, let us praise the Lord... Peace be upon them and peace be upon Allah," Said prayed. He also prayed peace on the "bigots" and "Islamaphobes."

As I understand it, “allah” is the Arabic word for “god”.
If so, it follows that Bible-believing, born-again, Arabic-speaking Christians call the one true and living God, “Allah.” But, other than perhaps to express some kind of empathy for their Arabic-speaking brethren, there’s no reason for English-speakers to use Arabic language.
Of course, all that matters is what’s in the heart. In the PC-USA church, congregations have been reciting truth for generations. But for many (nowadays, most), it’s only words on a page.

Just like the Roman Catholic church that insist they worship the same diety as Islam . Pay attention
Because the church building and land, and all other property as well, is owned by the Presbytery - not by the congregation.
Even though the land and church building may have been paid for by great-grandparents of the current members, the current members must “purchase” the facility from the Presbytery at a price set by the Presbytery.
On paper, good will supposedly plays a role in the amount of money demanded for the congregation’s freedom.
I say supposedly because there usually isn’t a lot of good will to be found among authoritarian, doctrinaire progressives (they are so much smarter and well-intentioned than the rest of us, don’t you know).
I wouldn’t call that a prophecy, I’d call it a a condemnation. And considering Who it came from, a uniquely frightening one.

I would normally say, not much. But I have faith that under a Trump Administration I think the Christian Gospel will enjoy a place of honor such as it held with the Founding Fathers.
In the meeting with 1,000 clergy in NYC last week, it is reported that Trump told the assembled that they should be calling out wrongdoing politicians from the pulpit.
He has promised elsewhere that he will revoke LBJ’s hateful rule forbidding political speech from pulpits in America.

Anyone, anywhere in the world who attended an Antiochian, Melkite or Syriac Divine Liturgy last Sunday heard God called Allah multiple times. I can assure you that Middle Eastern Christians are NOT closet Mohammedans whatever some American protestant may think!

It speaks volumes on FR the amount of people who think that Christians worship the same deity as the muslim because there is only ONE God .
Islam worships a demon that Mohammed met in a cave that tells them to maim , steal , kill and destroy . And Mohammed got the personal name allah from the idols in the Kabbah .
God’s name is NOT allah , allah means a curse .

So, Mohammad is a prophet? The same individual who stated in the koran that G_d could not have a son, and the same individual who calls for all muslims to conquer the world.
Thanks, K, for pointing out the obvious. We got to watch out for being shallow... also, Islam definitely reflects a stealing (and twisting) of terminology which had been Judeo-Christian.

Except for the fact that the name allah belonged to one of false “gods” in the Kabbah before Mohammed was born . Oh and God and god are not the same .God is like El , god is like idols .
Why is the Arabic shahada not translated there is no allah no allah but allah because there is another word for god in there language
When mad mo was inventing his false religion, the Arabs worshiped many gods. Mo picked out one god, Allah the moon god as the only god. In reality Allah is satan.
The bumper sticker you see on many cars "coexist", spelled out with the symbols of different religions, forgets that the first letter stands for islam, and islam never coexists. It only waits for the chance to destroy and conquer.
Was the area covered by most of the Orthodox Church conquered at one time by Islam. Did they submit and stop referring to G_d as Yahweh? Did the term “allah” come in, when those areas were conquered?
Unfortunately muslims object to Christians referring to the G_d of the Bible as allah. Christians have been arrested and tried for doing so in other muslim countries.
