The commandments, which Jesus not only obeyed but perfectly fulfilled, say "Honor thy father and thy mother." Does it dishonor or detract from Him that He honored His mother? And we are not to honor her, whom He honored?
The entire Bible, the whole thing, includes repeated re-tellings of great things that God did for His people, together with the exhortation that these things must not be forgotten, but must be recounted to generations yet unborn. Just as one example out of hundreds, the book of Hebrews (Chapter 11) recounts an Honor Roll of great People of Faith for whom the Lord did great things.
Yes, failing to honor them is failing to honor God.
Praising the beauty of the Moon does not detract from the Sun, but makes us appreciate the Sun all the more, since the Moon's light is pale and reflected from outside, whereas the Sun's is robust and generated from within. The Moon is no rival to the Sun, it is a reflection of Sun's glory. The same is true of Mary: she is not the Lord's competitor, she is His mirror.
"My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior; for He has looked upon His handmaid's lowliness, and behold, from now on all generations will call me blessed."
A Great Sign provided by God (Rev 12) that makes us praise Him all the more. We do not ignore her. We rejoice greatly with her, our blessed Mary!
