BTW, when Abraham told the company to wait at the foot of the mountain while he and his beloved son went up for the sacrifice, Abraham told the entourage 'they' would come back down shortly and to wait for 'them'. Abraham sacrificed his beloved son in his faith that God would keep His promises through the son from Sarai, even as he went to sacrifice him on that mountain. It is ALL by faith, not the works.
FWIW, I think it took a lot of work to IN FAITH take the boy up the mountain, build an altar and raise the sword over him and then respond when the Lord provided another alternative sacrifice.
IMHO he DID do a bit of work here that we can point to and see. The works he did on that mountain are evidence of his tremendous Faith. He was WILLING to act - to work - in loving obedience and complete Faith in God’s will and direction.
I just re-read your post. I think we are saying the same thing. I hope I added to your point in my previous post to you. :-D
