In a plain reading of the text, then, *brothers* and *sisters* mean *brothers* and *sisters*, siblings of the same parents.

The whole catholic argument of Mary's perpetual virginity rests upon this statement of Mary's in Luke 1:34.

The plain reading of Luke 1:34 does not have Mary making a perpetual pledge of virginity.

Nor does the Greek.

The catholic argument fails based on this statement.
