Error began creeping into the church at a very early point in time. Much of Paul's letters deal with error that crept in no sooner than he had left. And it started very early the Protoevangelium of James.

And it started very early the Protoevangelium of James. Oh?
It started WAY earlier than that; for the NT is replete with error being taught in the churches (Catholic ones; we are told): culminating in John's instruction; given by an angel; to WRITE to those churches in ASIA and WARN them of their error.
