Senator Ted Cruz has often stated that Jesus Christ is central to his life. He talks about how his father had left his family but returned after receiving the gospel, how his mother turned to Christ, and how this changed his life:

This article highlights what is so scary about Ted Cruz. He seems to both in the past and present have no problem whatsoever lying about ‘giving his heart to Jesus’. Ted Cruz has admitted he doesn't even tithe. Which shocked me when I first read that because how he portrays himself as such a good Christian.
Any successful Christian understands the importance of tithing. He is exactly as you wrote.
