Should young children be indoctrinated in LGBTQ ideology in United Methodist Vacation Bible Schools and Sunday schools?
The answer is a resounding "YES" if the LBGTQ "reconciling" movement in my denomination gets its way.
This was the focus of a workshop at last Saturday's "Winter Warming" retreat for activist supporters of the extraordinarily well-funded Reconciling Ministries Network (RMN).
RMN is the main unofficial caucus group devoted to promoting the LGBTQ liberationist cause. It boasts of having over 32,000 "Reconciling United Methodists," but a spokeswoman at this event admitted that they count anyone who receives their emails or newsletters (some of whom, like me, do not support their agenda).
While "Winter Warming" was only a local event of RMN's Chicago-area chapter, it featured some nationally prominent liberal UMC figures. The keynote preacher was Bishop Minerva Carcaño of Los Angeles. She was introduced by Chicago Bishop Sally Dyck, and gave a shout-out to retired bishop Sharon Rader, who was apparently also present. Bishop Carcaño claimed, without elaborating, that the 15 bishops, including Rader, who publicly challenged the UMC's orthodox policies on sexuality at the 1996 General Conference, later "suffered a great deal."
In addition to the three bishops, the closing worship featured the Rev. Tracy Smith-Malone, an endorsed candidate for bishop, sitting prominently up front. There was also a time of "commissioning" her and other Northern Illinois General Conference delegates there to advance the RMN agenda. (As an elected delegate from another conference, I declined to participate.)
One of their big points was the moral imperative they saw to "drop the gender binary" from avoiding such language as "boys and girls" to having "all-gender restrooms" (they apparently didnât see how this could possibly go wrong with immature, vulnerable little kids), lest one child feel undue pressure to conform to the gender binary.

I know.
You beat me to it.
God did not create gender. He created the two sexes. Man created gender which is a grammatical designation, not a reference to sex except obliquely.
You don't even need Genesis. It's a classic example of the general revelation displayed by God's creation itself.
I agree; that’s why I put the phrase “gender binary” in quotes. It’s a propaganda term invented by militant perverts.
There are quite a few. I guess we are the canaries in the coal mine.
For example, the church is moving away from the Trinity because it is anti-Islamic.
For example, the church is moving away from the Trinity because it is anti-Islamic.
Kind of ironic considering that Jews and Noachides (I'm among the latter) don't believe in it either.
Screw them. They didn’t bomb the WTC. The Left LOVES our enemies.
The church wants to push the idea that we all worship the same God. But the Trinity seems to put that idea into question. If you get rid of the Trinity, you can make the case a little easier that we are the same.
The central focus of the church is to stay on the right side of the narrative.
I hope you're not referring to the Jews and Noachides I mentioned in my last post to you, since I am a Noachide myself and you would be referring to me.
This is why you don’t allow women ministers. They put their “feelings” before the plain requirements that Scripture proscribes: pastors should be the husband of one wife, a good father with respectful children etc. When a church ignores God’s Word and lets the wicked world tell it what is acceptable, God’s blessing is forfeited and Satan rules. It never fails to turn out that way.
At this point the UMC is beyond saving. My local UMC remains apolitical. Should that change I will find another Church home. I make sure my donations are specifically earmarked to local charitable church activities and not to the general fund. I cannot support UMC Global Ministries liberal agenda.
That’s cutting it real close to the cob and right on the mark. I post that quite often in these threads so I’m glad to see another FReeper of similar mind.
Raises hand with Appy Pappy!!
We are praying that our General Assembly in Portland, OR. in May is lead by The Holy Spirit to reject LGBT and same-sex marriage proposals and keep the Word of God intact! We have a fight in the spiritual realm now and unless we pray daily and stand with Jesus, our comfy lives will mean nothing. We should push anti-God back to the big cities where they enjoy easily their lifestyles.
When the time comes, and it will come, I think you would have two options, depending on your preference. If you like the liturgical aspects of worship, find the closest Lutheran Church Missouri Synod congregation; if that doesn't appeal to you, find the closest Wesleyan congregation. If you go in other directions you would be dealing with theological differences; whether they would be deal-breakers, to use a phrase being bandied about here lately :-), would be up to you.
Methodist conservatives stopped using denominational literature years ago. Heck, Gamey, everything from the upper levels is pro-homosexual propaganda.
Or a request for money.
Thank goodness they believe in the taking the bible literally at one point....”give” money.
Yes, it had to be true.
I do feel sorry for all those Methodists deeply hurt by these LGBTQ antics. Considering that only .5 - 1.5% of the human race is LGBTQ, these sinners LGBTQ folks hold a lot of power.
Well, yes, since God made a point in creating both genders.
They are holding this assembly in the Sodom of the west coast. There’s a reason for this venue.
Upon first hearing this my husband and I just cringed. How could they just lay the same-sex marriage issue right in the lap of LGBT territory?!!! What it gives us now is the challenge to step up and defeat their human thinking and move them via the Holy Spirit to Biblical instruction. What better place for the Holy Spirit to show the power and glory of God??!!!!
As we pray every day for our nation to return to one nation under God, we pray for our church denomination to stand firm on The Word of God.
As I told my husband yesterday, we’d be in a bad way if God retired!!!
Both sides have bold plans....
I am aware as I need to be of this crap. And I am careful to inoculate the kids I teach against it.
