After months of reflection, Donald Trump says he still doesn't regret his decision not to ask God for forgiveness for his sins.
In an interview on Sunday with CNN, the Republican presidential frontrunner said that he does not regret never asking God for forgiveness, partially because he says he doesn't have much to apologize for.
"I have great relationship with God. I have great relationship with the Evangelicals," Trump said in the interview before pivoting to his poll numbers among Evangelical voters.
"I like to be good. I don't like to have to ask for forgiveness. And I am good. I don't do a lot of things that are bad. I try to do nothing that is bad."

You want to discuss, fine, you don't like my opinion, don't try to put me down or intimate me into believing my remarks are wrong, they are as every bit as right as right as mine and everyone else’s here....quit trying to over oblowivate your self, it doesn't work!!!
George Washington was not perfect. However, he will never be surpassed as the ideal President, IMHO.
“3. Washington Decided NOT to make himself supreme ruler of the United States. After risking his life to lead the American Revolution—often bravely putting himself directly in the line of fire—Washington shocked the entire world by voluntarily returning all his powers to the American people and their elected representatives. It was a decision that even led his recently defeated foe, King George III to comment that Washington was “the greatest character of his generation.” We will never know whether this decision was driven by altruism or a self-interested desire to be adored by history. What we do know is that decision aligned perfectly with the pattern of decisions Washington established throughout his lifetime. He was an exemplar of what Wharton professor Adam Grant (link is external) describes as “otherish”—people who are both highly giving and highly self-interested.
4. Washington decided NOT to forego his salary as president. No goal did Washington worked harder at achieving throughout his life than the goal of becoming a benevolent public servant both in reality and in reputation. So after becoming the only unanimously elected president in U.S. history, he declined his annual salary of $25,000. After all, what would history think about the one of the wealthiest men in the cash-strapped country accepting such a handsome salary?
Yet congress convinced him that this ostensibly noble act—like everything Washington did as the nation’s first president—would set an unshakeable precedent for the office. In this case, if he set an expectation that the president would not accept a salary, he was virtually guaranteeing that only the wealthiest people in the nation could afford to be president. That was something that Father Freedom could not stomach for the new republic, so even at the risk of minimizing his legacy of benevolence in the public eye he accepted the salary.
5. Washington decided to free his slaves. That Washington ever owned slaves to begin with has caused my cynical self to scoff at his supposed “greatness.” Yet, of the of the nine U.S. presidents who came from slave-owning families, guess how many set their slaves free? You guessed it—only one. Not only did he free them, he also made arrangements for the younger slaves to be educated and he set up a pension fund for the elderly slaves.
To a large extent, we are all products of our time and place.Throughout our lives, we will all be presented with a difficult choice to rise above that time and place. George Washington was great because he decided to do what others merely talked about doing. Regardless of how self-interested Washington’s motives may or may not have been, it’s easy to imagine a bright future for a world populated by people who view every decision as an opportunity to reveal an uncommon strength of character.”
Agreeed, but the fact remains NO one likes to admit they are a sinner and ask forgiveness. It is one of the hardest things to ever do. If it were easy, everyone would be saved.
Another factor is Reformed churches tend to shy away from the I am a sinner aspect that Evs put in the forefront.
Excellent points and a well thought out, sound, and thorough response. The simple point I was attempting to make, at 2am, is that ALL far short regardless of how outwardly pious they may live. Trump’s testimony of his faith is good enough for me. What happens privately between his heart and God is not my concern.
It is between Trump and God whether or not he is saved. No one is judging his salvation - that is up to God. But as a Christian, it IS my responsibility to point out when someone is leading another astray on Biblical teaching. I'm sorry, but if you don't repent (which requires asking for forgiveness of sins) you cannot be saved. If Trump is implying that you can be saved without that (which his statements seem to imply), then the Bible says he is wrong. If other people read his statements and believe repentance is not necessary, then he could be responsible for them losing their souls.
When I post I generally speak to the public and I am overly protective of George. Got a crush when I read his writings in the archives. I could live in the archives.
Trump has never abused scripture. Cruz told his volunteers to ‘put on the whole armor of God’ to prepare for the political attacks coming up to Iowa. THAT is misuse of Scripture.
First, you act like this is new to you when you have been repeating this same line all night.
Second, you seem to not realize that asking God to forgive us is hard. Realizing we need to ask God to forgive us is the hardest thing we will ever do and many do not.
Third, Trump identifies as a Presbyterian not an Evangelical and you are trying to pidgenhole all Christians into EV theology.
Fourth, I guarantee there have been times in your life where you did not or did not want to your think you did not have to ask God for forgiveness for something or several somethings.
Fifth, are you without sin? You sure act like it.
O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned. Matthew 12:34-37
Believe me, I'm not accusing him of being one. He says he'll enforce immigration law, protect the 2A, and protect us from Islam. I hope that is all true. Beyond that, I don't think there is any reason to believe he is looking to restrain the Federal government's power.
Let me call two Corinthians that I know and see what they think.
I posted an article; some people found it interesting.if you don’t like it, don’t bother with it. Actually, I did some further research a little further down the thread in response to a constructive criticism and found that the ground had been covered in July and September in other sources. I posted that as well.
I attend a Presbyterian Church; please don’t tell anyone Presbyterians “shy away “ from calling sinners sinners. Total depravity is one of the cornerstone of Calvinist thought. Also “evangelical” is not a denomination as “Presbyterian “ is. Many Presbyterians are evangelical, probably all are to some degree.
Well the Donald said that there will be a BIG WALL built on the USA/Mexican border, right?
He is lying about being a Christian.By saying these things, he is telling (Deliberately?) us he is an evil person.
He cannot do the things he says he will do without God’s help.
Satan quotes thee Bible, but he twists what he quotes into the opposite of what he is saying.
I believe he will do the opposite of what he is promising.
Nor post an obvious hit thread and then say, "Gee, I dunno, I just thought it was interesting... it's not me, it's him... uuh..."
I'm going to have to ask someone's forgiveness for not buying it. And it won't be God.
No hit thread at all. You Trump people are so defensive you can’t even think straight. So buzz off.

No, that is very proper use of scripture.
What is going on in this election is very much a spiritual battle, and using the power of the Holy Spirit is the only way we can expect to win.
The attacks against Cruz have been evil and demonic, and we all need to spend time in prayer if we want righteous leadership.
Otherwise we’ll get what we deserve.
.
.
Relax, there won’t be any “President Trump.”
We either support a real candidate, or we lose. Trump can’t beat Bernie or Hitlery; only Cruz has the strength and understanding to handle a real election.
He has already soundly beaten one billionaire in Texas twice, on his way to the Senate.
We have to bet on strength, not rancor nor bombast.

.
AMEN!
