The Death and Vanity of David Bowie
IFB ^ | 1/15/16

Posted on 01/15/2016 7:52:36 PM PST by The Ignorant Fisherman

How tragic it is when a fallen human being gives themselves totally over to the base and lawless practices of this little fallen world and sell their souls seeking to find satisfaction and contentment by living a godless and lawless life. In the end of one's godless vanity there is an ETERNAL price to be paid which has now become a HORRIFIC SOBERING REALITY (Psalm 14:1-3, Mark 8:36-37, Rom. 3; 5:12-21, Gal. 6:7-8, Jude 1:11-13, Rev. 20:11-15).

For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Mark 8:36-37

David Bowie's death this week has multitudes around the world reflecting on his existence here in time. Mr. Bowie was one of society's arch godless trendsetters who pushed the limits and boundaries of Almighty God's moral absolutes like none other for his time (Rom. 1:18-32). David was a mighty lawless tool and lewd vanguard in the hands of the god of this world in seeking to transform and destroy the Judeo/Christian culture worldwide (Matt. 7:16-18, Rom. 1:18-32, Jude 1:8-13,18). David Bowie is a trendsetter hero and worshiped by millions throughout the world for his anti - Creator trendsetting ways. What brief things I just shared about David Bowie is well known by all and his opinions and thoughts about Almighty God are his own judge on this matter.

What is the proper waiting period?

Again, if the President died this evening there would be people on this site dancing. That is wrong. There would be people pointing out his flaws. That is acceptable.

There is a time & a place for that, BUT not right after death. I was brought up to see that as a common courtesy afforded the recently deceased.

Thank you for pointing out my error.

You should have used a comma instead of a slash (/) and you should not have used a colon at all. Also, you should not end a sentence with a preposition, as you used “for: to end a sentence.

Correcting a stranger’s grammar on a public forum might also be considered classless, though I do not mind.

Heaven will be full of redeemed sinners. They may even be a redeemed blogger or two but that’s a stretch.

As much as I DESPISE 0Muslim (oh, and I do!!!), I would remain silent in such a pass.

I figure a person's actions during their life are their own reward. I may have forgotten restraint after someone's death ONCE on this website, but if I did, I regret it.

It might have been Lars-Erik Nelson. I'll have to check. :)

I think marrying Iman was positive influence in his life. He pretty stopped all that persona, but led a quiet normal life with her and their daughter.

So do you bring this to the attention of others on this site. When people are cheering the death of certain individuals, even villains, do you point out the inappropriateness of this behavior? IS one allowed to say anything about the deceased that is not positive? How long must one wait before saying anything bordering on criticism? I only ask so as not to offend in the future.

Thanks for the smile.

He was so evil he recited the Lord’s prayer during the tribute concert for Freddy Mercury.

Let’s all sit around all day singing Bringing In The Sheep . No , thank you . I’d guess 90% or our past and present musical idols are athiests . That’s their problem . If they push it in their music it is up to us to decide whether or not to listen . Bowie - for better or worse - lived his life on his terms and made a bundle . Good for him .

Why don’t you scroll down the recent posts and look at mine on tolerance by Fulton Sheen.

I will concede that cheering someone’s death is wrong, but recognizing who they are is not.

For the life of me I swear I used a semi colon & I can’t find a for w/ a period after it. Could be the wine. Or not.

David Bowie's death shouldn't elicit much celebrating...

On the other hand, Keith Olbermann, Sean Penn, Rosie O'Donnell, Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Boxer, Fidel Castro and others are an occasion to celebrate.

Sure; blame the wine. That is like the shooter blaming the gun.

Actually I have pointed out when I thought it was inappropriate & no there is no time period set in stone. It felt wrong to me because he just died. I think most everyone deserves that grace period after death before the knives come out. This post just really hit me the wrong way.

“So the dialogue runs on,with deadpan seriousness and wide-eyed enthusiasm. The curia, the friends agree, is a great place not only for serious study but also for lighter amusements such as gaming, horsemanship, and hunting. Just think of the dinner parties at the papal court - witty gossip, along wih fantastic food served by beautiful, young, hairless boys. And for those whose tastes do not run in the direction of Ganymede, there are the abundant pleasures of Venus.”

- The Swerve by Stephen Greenblatt

... about the recovery, after many centuries, of the manuscript of Lucretius’ DE RERUM NATURA, by one “Poggio of Florence” who had served as papal secretary.

I recommend it.

I quit doing "Recent Posts" on FR 18 years ago.

I always do the "Articles" view - something about my organizational mind, I guess.

My dear old mother just recently exposed me to the great Fulton Sheen.

I had to fish up his YouTube videos for her.
