Archbishop invites more young Christians to spend ‘a year in God’s time’
Lambeth Palace ^ | Thursday 17th December 2015 | Archbishop Justin Welby

Posted on 12/19/2015 10:27:54 AM PST by lqcincinnatus

The Archbishop of Canterbury today welcomed a group of Shia theologians to Lambeth Palace at the culmination of three days of dialogue with Christian theologians, hosted by Harris Manchester College, Oxford and the British Council.

Expressing his appreciation for this dialogue, Archbishop Justin Welby said:

“At a time of increasing fear and division in the world, it is ever more important that people of faith, Christians and Muslims, come together to work towards the common good for the betterment of all.

"As Anglicanism has its roots in the United Kingdom, and Shi’ism in the Islamic Republic of Iran and the former Persian Empire, I recognise that there is great potential for our faith to act as a bridge between our faith communities and the countries in which they are based."

It is objectively true, that Churches with women clergy are experiencing massive declines.

Feminist leadership damages Churches, non-profit groups and corporations.

I agree with you 100% but I don't seem to be able to find any statistics on the subjecy except that church attendance has declined generally.

You are opposed to female corporate leadership?

How about female political leadership? Please provide your opinion of Margaret Thatcher.

That move on the part of the Archbishop of Canterbury just might BACKFIRE on his eminence.
THAT might damage the C of E even more. Not good.

Do you equate corporate leadership with church leadership?

As I learned it the Catholic Church took the male lead as reference to its Jewish background. Granted there ARE female rabbis but they, I think, are far and few between.

Faith and corporate leadership couldn't be farther apart from each other. My opinion only.

I said nothing about female church leadership. I oppose it in fact. Are you opposed to feminist corporate leadership ( who isn’t?), or female corporate leadership in general?

My mistake.
I don't care one way or another about female corporate leadership. Why would you?

By the way what is the difference between:
feminist corporate leadership and female corporate leadership in general?
I didn't get your point there.

Can there never, ever be a woman in corporate leadership anywhere in the world? I detect a lacuna in that argument.

Tell that to the Pentecostals, particular the Assemblies of God.

He's opposed to affirmative-action female corporate leadership.

If you have to make a big deal out of the fact that the person is female, it's affirmative action.

Nobody made a big deal of Maggie's gender. She got where she was on the force of her own personality and ideas.

If you think we need a female president for any reason, then you believe in affirmative action.

I believe in competency, and I don't look at gender or skin color when determining that, unlike you.

When all is said and done we have the rubble of the Episcopalian and Anglican Churches, and what is left standing till the end of time is the Catholic Church. The rest is mere amusement.

Margaret Thatcher was an anomaly.

Carly Fiorina’s trashing of HP, Susanna Martinez’ drunken tirade in NM and the Sam’s Club CEO’s sexist/racist “management style” are more typical

And, of course, we could throw in the disaster that was Prohibition, the crimes of Hillary Clinton and Imelda Marcos’ shoes; just for starters.

Or you could discuss the topic of declining church membership under female clerics.

You believe that the gender of the person you vote for is important, so I know plenty about you.

Wtf are you talking about? Quite the contrary. I couldn’t care less about their gender, as long as they can do the job.

"To: Oak Grove You are opposed to female corporate leadership? How about female political leadership? Please provide your opinion of Margaret Thatcher."

Gender matters to you, that's why you made a big deal out of it and got all holier-than-thou. Gender doesn't matter to me. Ideas matter. But you think it's important.

The C of E is the "established" church by virtue of a law passed by Parliament long ago, right?

Therefore it would be possible in principle for some variety of Islam to be "established" if Parliament so acts.
