I thought people spoke more Aramaic than Hebrew at the time. Then too, 1500 year old?

I always thought the same. Also, that Hebrew was the language of The Book and Aramaic was the language most people spoke. There IS a “small” time warp there too, isn’t there?

The spoken language of the time was Aramaic, Greek, and Latin. But Hebrew would have still have been a known literary language.
