Rivkah Would not Bow to Francis : How does Francis Respond?
http://crownheights.info/picture-of-the-day/499531/picture-of-the-day-rivkah-would-not-bow/ ^

Israeli President Reuven Rivlin paid a visit to Pope Francis in Rome, accompanied by his personal secretary Rivkah – an Orthodox-Jewish woman. When a person usually greets the pope, they shake his hand and bow down. But when Rivkah’s turn came to greet the pope, she explained to him that for religious reasons she could not shake his hand, nor could she bow down since he was wearing a cross. The pope then covered his cross with his hand, and bowed down to her!

I am fairly convinced that this man is not the best representative of the Catholic Church that we have ever had.To me he always seems not ready for prime time, also he does not appear to welcome any assistance from those around him. Having lived through six Popes in my lifetime, I rank hi dead last, although only slightly behind John XXIII.

We have only had 2 popes that have lived during the time when someone could have their entire lives picked apart on camera and by everyone who can afford a phone with internet access. For most of the history of the Catholic Church, the Pope's statements have been filtered through bishops and priests before reaching the average lay person (if at all). Prior to the advent of the Papal Twitter account, the Pope did not have a direct megaphone into each Catholic's life. Prior to the rise of blogs, the flying buttress Catholics (the Catholic equivalent of an ivory-tower academic) had no way to pick apart every syllable and hand twitch of the Pope.

Listen to Mary!

"As I told you, if men do not repent and better themselves, the Father will inflict a terrible punishment on all humanity. It will be a punishment greater than the deluge, such as one will never seen before. Fire will fall from the sky and will wipe out a great part of humanity, the good as well as the bad, sparing neither priests nor faithful. The survivors will find themselves so desolate that they will envy the dead. The only arms which will remain for you will be the Rosary and the Sign left by My Son. Each day recite the prayers of the Rosary. With the Rosary, pray for the Pope, the bishops and priests." -Our Lady of Akita, 10-13-73 [emphasis; mine]

Pray.

Actually, when one watches the video, the crucifix was hidden from the moment he entered the room. And he never removes it from his cumber-band.

Knowing these same Jewish leaders have made it quite clear that the crucifix is an insult to Jews and knowing Francis’ propensity for not offending Jews, is it really so difficult to believe that the hidden crucifix was not merely an accident?

How else could you know?

Thank you for this post.

I have grown so weary of the slanderous and near-calumny, rash judgment posts about Pope Francis on this forum by some frequent posters here, that I have come to this forum less often. It isn’t really doesn’t seem worth precious time anymore.

How true are the words of Our Lady of Akita. Thank you.

And...how true it is that-—even if our words have taken form in anonymity on an internet forum, they are still our “words”-—witnessed by God and to be accounted for before Him, who told us He have us account for every word. He also told us that “out of the heart, the mouth speaks”.

"American" arrogance, huh? Is that what you call what you were doing previously here on this thread?

Although there is some amount of that in the world, and which would be best left at home when visiting elsewhere, I don't think American arrogance was exactly what was being discussed.

Nice try, though.

However, I'm not so easily distracted.

Better luck, next week?

Huh, you mean you don’t think he thinks he’s doing God’s Will? What a strange thing to imply for someone who likes to defend him ad nauseum.

Except he did.

There's an old story about a European ambassador showing up at the White House in the 1860s to present his credentials. He was ushered into the President's office (now the Lincoln bed room) to find the President shining his shoes.

"Mr. President," said the astonished diplomat, "you shine your own shoes?"

"Why, yes," replied Mr. Lincoln. "Whose do you shine?"

From our first Pope:
“You must esteem the person of every man.” 1Peter 2:17

From our Pope Emeritus:
“God addresses every individual by a name no one else knows, as Scripture tells us (cf.Rev.2:17) God’s love for each individual is totally personal and includes the mystery of a uniqueness that cannot be divulged to other human beings.”
Pope Benedict XVI

(Interestingly, each of these two quotes refer to 2:17 verses in Scripture).

It’s helpful to look up what is written about rash judgment, slander, etc. in the Catechism of the Catholic Church: “Life in Christ”, Part Three, Article 8.
