When I was in the Navy I remember an old Chief telling us recruits that if we felt we had to get a tattoo, get one that read "Mother." That way we'd never be embarrassed by it.

I decided I didn't need to get a tattoo.

On our first liberty out of navy boot camp,
one of the guys in my company got himself a huge
tattoo of an eagle and corresponding decoration.
Plus, in a very large font, 029, our boot camp
company number. Imagine going through life with
a tattoo of your boot camp company number.
