The leader of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Philadelphia on Tuesday attacked Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump's call for ending automatic citizenship for children born to immigrants living illegally in the U.S., saying the idea "plays on our worst fears and resentments."
"Some in public life notably, but not only, Donald Trump have called for an end to birthright citizenship," Archbishop Charles Chaput said in remarks prepared for a church forum that was part of the run-up of activities to a visit later this month by Pope Francis. "This is a profoundly bad idea."
The archbishop said he hoped immigration would be a key part of the discussions during the Vatican-sponsored World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia and the pope's appearance during the closing weekend.
The pope has decried what he has called the "inhuman" conditions facing migrants crossing the U.S.-Mexico border, and encouraged frontier communities to not judge people by stereotypes but rather welcome migrants and work to end discrimination.
Without at first mentioning Trump by name, Chaput began his remarks by declaring: "At least one of our presidential candidates has already made the national immigration debate ugly with a great deal of belligerent bombast."

It's the principle of mystical nationalism which the Left has pushed since the end of World War II.
Hispanics (or Latinos, both words ironically of European origin) are the original autochthonous or indigenous people of the Western Hemisphere who grew organically out of the very soil of their Mystical Motherland. Whites or Europeans or Westerners or whatever you wish to call them are "foreign devils" who are occupying conquered territory where they have no business being.
Since WWII he Left has been all about reverse Hitlerism. The Left originally was internationalist, universalist, and class-centered, championing coal miners and lumberjacks. Now coal miners and lumberjacks are redneck rapists of Mother Earth and her "indigenous" children.
Interestingly, this adoption of reverse Nazi mystical nationalism is also why the Left turned against the Jews (all mystical nationalists, right or left, hate the Jews). Ironically, at first the Jews and Israel benefited from this as the Communist world supported them for a brief time (and longer inside the United States). But now in the name of opposing Nazism the Left wants to kill Jews to fuel a mystical blood-and-soil nationalist ideology for anti-Semites, supposedly of color.
The Left is certifiably insane.

The 14th Amendment was written to ensure the perpetual rights of the children of slaves were preserved. In other words the blacks. If I were black, I’d be incensed at how a law written to protect my people was being usurped and indeed abused by people who not only don’t want to assimilate into our culture, but also who steal jobs away from my own race.
It’s amazing how much abuse the blacks in this country are willing to take from their defacto modern-day slave masters (the Democrat party). It’s like they (the blacks) don’t care at all to think for themselves.
As for the OP: oh well. Thank God the Church doesn’t live or die by what some American bishops believe. That’s all I can say.

The corrupt judges who ignore the reality of the 14th amendment and attempt to grant citizenship to anchor babies. I would throw in Jeb Bush for good measure.
“Jurisdiction” does not mean the United States - unless it does. If the parents’ jurisdiction is either Mexico or some other country, the baby is not an American citizen.
Who are the corrupt judges? It’s a fair question. If you want to use this site to slander the federal judiciary, you should be readt and able to back up the charges. The consequences, at least to this site initially, are not good.

The 14th amendment has a clause within it that determines that people who have no connection to America - and yet are born within it - are NOT American citizens.
My Constitution was written in simple, easy English so that people like you could read it clearly and interpret it correctly.
