The only acceptable prejudice is that against poor rural (white) Fundamentalist Protestants, particularly from the Southeastern United States.
Catholics have the "Democrat urban immigrant minority group" thing going for them. They can always invoke NINA and "nativism." In fact, anti-Catholic liberals will actually defend Catholicism if some hapless Fundamentalist Protestant happens to disagree with it or criticize it in any way . . . even for invoking its history of persecution of others, which liberals do all the time.
I wish Catholics would stop making this blatantly false claim.
Which was to counter the massive proliferation of threads bashing many non Catholic belief systems.
What Catholics call "Protestants" or "Prods" or "prods" and "separated brethren" got tired of the constant denigrating of their denominations and so started posting threads exposing the non-Scriptural non-Biblical aspects of the teachings of Catholicism.
Some examples being that if you are baptized Catholic (by the way, no one is "baptized" into any denomination) you are "marked", ie that is branded, for life as a Catholic and you stay a Catholic all your life and you cannot leave to become a Christian instead.
Also that to be saved and go to heaven everyone must "come back" to the OTC (One True Church) or they are not legitimate Christians and are not part of the body of Christ.
Apparently Catholics complained about threads from legitimate sources explaining the misdirections perpetrated by Catholicism and OTC's were admonished to not post those threads anymore.
You talk about the nicknames for non-Catholics, there are equally offensive nicknames for Catholics that I have seen here.
One is RC — there are many rites in the Catholic Church, but only one church. The rite referred to with those letters is the Latin Rite.
To everyone:
While you sit at your keyboards and dissect the subtleties of the meanings of words, orphans hunger, widows hurt, prisoners languish, and the sick suffer and die alone.
Shame on all of us for our pride and vanity.

There are significant doctrinal differences between Roman Catholicism and other varieties.
By using the term *Roman Catholic* (which Roman Catholics do and apply to themselves) we are distinguishing between the different factions of Catholicism.
It’s hypocritical for Catholics to use the term Roman Catholic themselves and for themselves, and then whine about others using it as well.
RC is nothing more than an abbreviation for Roman Catholic, as RCC is for Roman Catholic Church, no different than any abbreviations used for Baptists, Lutherans, etc.
GARB = General Association of Regular Baptists
ELCA = Evangelical Lutheran Church in America
PCA = Presbyterian Church in America
SBC = Southern Baptist Convention
Y’all Catholics need to get over yourselves and your martyr/persecution complex that sees everything that y’all don’t like as a personal offense. It doesn’t wear well when you claim it for yourself when it’s nothing more than being too easily offended.
IOW, GROW UP and quit your whining and trying to control everything everyone else does or says.
The Catholic church does not own the world, or our language or anyone’s soul. They have no right to control or try to control everything anyone else does.
Learn to live with it.
“The only acceptable prejudice is that against poor rural (white) Fundamentalist Protestants, particularly from the Southeastern United States.”
Nope, that’s wrong. Just like the non-Catholic Christian who wrote this article is wrong to say that the only acceptable one is against Catholics. Both exist, both get it from the other as well as from popular culture.

Nonsense, and which further makes your faith look like it produces peevish (i complain to much myself) spokespersons, like as liberal are noted for being.
This is a Internet forum, and abbreviations are to be expected, including "Prots," which i use myself. They save my arthritic fingers from typing more typos for one, and for another distinguishes btwn RCs and EO Catholics.
As for the Roman aspect, that is used by popes and councils themselves, and represents where the head of all Cath churches in communion with the pope, like as Washington represents America's leadership.
You have the Catholic Church and you have the Orthodox Church. Then you have 100,000 or more “Christian” anti-Biblical sects. Learn to live with it.
Another flame baiting thread?

The fact remains that in any friction between RCs and FPs the liberal secular culture will side with the RCs every single time.
Yeah, it looks like it.
Seems that Jesus’ words in the Beatitudes about persecution haven’t quite sunk in for some yet.
“The fact remains that in any friction between RCs and FPs the liberal secular culture will side with the RCs every single time.”
Right, the liberal secular culture absolutely loves the discipline of celibacy, non-acceptance of remarriage after civil divorce, non acceptance of birth control within marriage and the authority of the Pope and Magisterium and always sides with the Catholics against the Evangelicals on these issues.

Amen. Thank you.
But worse than ALL of these; souls are lost.
“While you sit at your keyboards and dissect the subtleties of the meanings of words, orphans hunger, widows hurt, prisoners languish, and the sick suffer and die alone”.
I’m a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus and my council is rated one of the top councils in the country. We stay constantly busy helping........but not limited to.
“hungry orphans, widows who are hurting, prisoners in languish, and the sick and suffering, and no one ever dies alone” if we know they are dying. Plus we help out in natural disasters, we give clothing to the poor, we give wheelchairs to the needy, we money millions of dollars to charitable organizations all over the world and we sponsor seminarians. I could go on but I there’s no need.
Thank you
For sure.
I well remember all the baptismal parties, the communion parties, and especially weddings. Break out the booze and LOOK OUT!!!
I refused to have an open bar at my wedding for that very reason.
And it’s all talk and the liberals know when push comes to shove, the Catholics will vote for them EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
