One must repent, and "repent" means turn from the sin. Since the second marriage is not marriage at all, but rather a public commitment to a relationship predicated upon adultery (sexual union with someone other than your original, true and lawful spouse), repentance means the must cease their sexual relations until the original spouse dies, or until the original marriage is somehow proven to have been invalid from the git-go (this is "annulment").
The remedy is there, and the remedy is repentance. We have a Sacrament for that.
